that would actually be a good thing to try out but does topping on the 3rd node apply also to cuttings? i wouldn't mind if my plants had 2-3 main colas instead of 1, i think it could fill the area better. and this brings me to your 2nd question, the answer is i don't know lol. see what is happening is pretty much all the plants are branching out like ive never seen before. i think the kelp i have in the soil is probably doing that so to be honest i cant tell if my treatment is helping or not. it didn't make the ones treated with alfalfa to stretch more either so maybe i could of used a stronger application? if the alfalfa is doing anything it sure is overshadowed by what the kelp is making the plants do. anyway ive stopped with the foliars from now on, they all started packing pistils and i don't want to risk any mold have a good one!
Day 21, girls are going HAM! flowers are starting to get that nice shape , everything is just booming, even the mulch is exploding! another one of the #10's got a little to leggy so i tied her down as well, the other girls will just have to make room! just so you see what im talking about, this side branch is looking better then some main colas i had on plants in the past! First Hashberry popped its head today! kosher kush seed project is also comming along, day 27 since flip and the studs starting dropping pollen so i collected some, i swear i could hear 70's disco music playing in the background have a great weekend everybody!
Hey brother, I've attached a photo of a Seedsman White Widow that went 12/12 from seed, and was topped just about the 3rd node! You can have a look at my thread and take a look at the all the plants except for the Sativa Seeds Blackberry, to get a good idea for how the plants will grow when you top them just above the second true node. They grow 4 colas vs the 6 you see in the White Widow. My light is my limiting factor at the moment so the flowers aren't what they should be, but the plant structures will give you a great idea as to how the plants will grow when topped in said fashion. As far as if it works the same for cuttings, that's an interesting question that I've never thought of, nor had the chance to experiment with. In my nearly 4 years of learning and working, I've grown from seed only, as I've wanted to try as many different strains as possible. The only strain I've grown more than two plants of are GDPs Bay 11 and the Seedsman White Widow! I wish I would've cloned both given how nice they were haha! And damn in regards to the foliars lol :/ I was hoping something would be conclusive but oh well! NICE BED for sure tho The ladies look nice an comfy haha. Must be a sleepnumber bed *This photo is from just a little over 3 years ago
buds buds everywhere! seriously, i've never seen so many bud sites! even the ones on the bottom are looking good! kosher kush starting to stretch 4/5 Hashberry seeds have sprouted aren't they adorable? the first one to sprout is also a mutated lucky 3 leaf pheno! exploding mulch porn: peace! #LOG Hashberry sprout
I'm with Mainah It's looking GREAT over here man! And that Mulch is looking just mmmmmm Nice work brother! Keep rocking it!
that's how my mutants plants started out maybe it will be the fun three stems per node kind!! I'm pretty stoked about that one.
Day 25 man these plants stretch! Had to tie down another one. #5 pheno this time. im glad i didnt pack the bed very tightly or i would have no space to train. and this is with 4 days veg! next time im gonna flip at transplant, or a day after at most! i just ate a firecracker trying to figure out what a good dose is for me with medibles. last time i had about 0.5 gram bud + 0.5gram abv and it was almost too much. this time im trying with 0.2gram bud and about the same amount of abv. i tried a whole gram of abv two days ago and i barely felt anything, maybe a 2/10. it's all in the name of science! peace!
Good morning Scoob, Very interesting read to catch up on, might have to go back and read what you listed as inspiration. Fairly new grower here, but been reading like crazy. From what I've read, topping clones doesn't work. I've been using LBH's 4 way LST Scrog tutorial as my baseline, a Google should find it. I don't see him list why it doesn't work, just that clones and autos don't work. Sub'd up for this one, good stuff! Healthy green, MT Sent from my LGUS990 using Tapatalk
Hey MonkeyTime welcome to the party! my inspiration has to be Bluejays No-Till Gardening thread, took me about a month to finish reading, but most of the important stuff is at the start. pretty much trying to copy what he does as much as i can. so far i am really happy with how its turning out, and i think my plants are too re clones: you know, when a plant is sexually mature its structure stops being symmetrical. now since clones maintain the same maturity as the doner plant, i think that this phenomena with topping on the 2-3 node has something to do with the symmetrical structure of young plants. and that's probably why it doesn't work with clones.
That would make complete sense, I've just never seen it listed as the reason, just that you couldn't. I'll have to get into that thread looks to be very interesting. I'm a believer in learning everything and then combining and experimenting. I'm like the mma of growing lol! MT Sent from my LGUS990 using Tapatalk
Kosher kush seed project is coming along! i keep hearing this music when i go check on them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7evC55NU8I studs are just exploding with pollen, the slightest touch and clouds of pollen fill the air! Don Not Disturb! been collecting pollen every day! i store them in little glass perfume testers which go into a silica gel filled jar in the freezer. so far i have collected pollen from Congo, Panama and now the kosher kush! now if i only knew what i actually want to do with it, lol! peace and pot!
Day 27. tied down two more girls...this is getting out of hand here! didn't they get the memo about stretch stopping at day 21?! today is SST day and also my first attempt to try using soap nuts! i placed half a soap nut shell in a gallon of water and i will use this water later when i make the sst. oh and 3 leaf wanted to say hi! peace! #LOG Panama end week 4
Girls look awesome Scoobie! Looks like most of that stretch ought to fill right in with bud. Such problems lol! Interested to see how you like the soap nuts. Or actually how the girls like them!
thanks bro! there are buds EVERYWHERE, lol! its like every node on the ones i tied down has become a main cola now, its friken amazing! i switched the hours of light last night cause it was getting rather warm having the lights on during the day. now the lights come on at 10pm to 10am. re soapnuts, i gave them the SST last night, the soapnuts really work well for a wetting agent that for sure! the water i put the shell in got really slimy and soapy, the slightest stir would create a rich foam! i used a cup of that water and added it to my SST drench, just enough to create a thin layer of bubbles on the sst when stirred. the rest of the soap nut water went into the fridge, where i have read it can keep for 2 weeks! is it the weekend already?!
day 30! girls are coming along nicely and buds are getting bigger by the day. i think (hope) ive seen the worst of the stretch. they sure did grow a lot more then i anticipated. they started at about 5-6" and are now about 2' on average i think, some of the more stretchy ones are 2.5' easy! and they are not just growing up they are using every inch of space sending shoots and branches with some pretty nice nuggage all over! i can definitely tell there is a huge difference growing in a big container, best plants i grew in my life! kosher kush, trying to catch up... you can see one side branch from the panama towering above the kosher kush on the right...poor indica, lol! and its day 81 on the panama preggers. i pulled one seed and it looked almost ready but still a bit fresh (some green lines). might let these ride till week 14 just to be sure they are all fully matured. the buds sure look tasty though
Ladies are growing like a weed Scoobie! They do like to stretch their legs, and their stalks lol! Your pregnant mamas do look sweet. The seeds should be popping right out when she's done.
Day 33 Today was Neem Kelp tea day, man this stuff reeks! I've also added some chopped herbs (cilantro, mint rosemary and lavender) from my garden to the tea while it was brewing. dregs went to the worm bin, hope they like it! nothing much else to report, which is a good thing! 3leaf! got a little burned from an accidental splash of sst the other day i wonder what the structure of this one will be like? peace!
