scales? what is best brand?

Discussion in 'Smoking Accessories Q&A' started by 4B11T, Mar 16, 2010.

  1. is there a specific brand that is the best for "green" scales mainly to weigh grams to an ounce? mainly at a headshop, what do you look for to find "the perfect scale to fit ur needs?"

id rather not spend more then 50 on a scale cuz 50 in itself is outragous in my eyes lol. unless i grow...which i dont lol

  2. lol i dont know to much aboout scales but see if they will show you its on point.by placing a nickel on it it should way 5.0 gs..but theres also coke scales to so watch out..

  3. whats the difference between them 2 scales?

  4. I got mine for 20 bucks, it's called a "black box". Works well enough for me, just to weigh out my purchases to make sure i don't get skimped and to split up big purchases with friends. Pretty much any scale that goes to .01 will be ok, if you aren't weighing more than a ounce most of the time. and btw, a dollar bill = 1 gram ;).

A really good scale will have 2 decimal points, not just one.

    example: 1.15 grams

    I don`t have much experience weighing.......but don`t over-pay. Under $80 for personal use, is what I'd do.

....and you can get a weight that is one gram somewhere, I'm sure.....

  6. at the local headshops they got huge scales for pounds and smale pocket sized ones with a metal/silver plate (the part where u put the goods) but im sure its like 35 bucks...is this a decent price if it has 2 decimal points?

  7. Yes. My first thought is $60 for the samller one.
    Make sure it works.

  8. ppreciate it brother.

also i got a friend who always asks to buy 2 jays from me for 5 bucks. i roll them in the roller so they are fairly skiny and i find it funny how he purchases...although i dont sell jsut ot good friends....if u can call them that...ive noticed lately my smoking buddys all use me and prob one another for smking purposes...not much of a friendship if u ask me...maybe im just being antisocial :(

I picked up one at a local headshop that goes down to two decimal places (0.00), and it weighs out a nickel right down to 5.00 grams, and is also very sensitive to the environment -- which is a sign of accuracy imo. You have to make sure the fan is off, the air is still, and that it's on a very solid table. I put it on my cheap desk before, and if I pushed my hand down on the desk, near the scale, it would register the difference in gravity/weight of me slightly flexing the desk downward. I also had one nickel that weighed out to 4.99g too.

edit: oh yeah, it was $35 too.

  10. The weight of nickels varies from 4.9 - 5.1 g.

  11. i got one online @ amazon.com, its an AWS, which is american weigh scales. like $15 bucks on sale it was pretty sick. has several modes, backlight, tare, plastic lid, fits in pocket, accurate to .01g.. not tryin to advertise here im just saying its a very efficient way to spend $15 ;P

  12. just got one on some cheapo chinese website for $12.00... It looks like an mp3 player, you take the cover off, and scale it up... accurate to hundreths (0.00) of a gram. And it too is very sensitive to changes in the environment. I can breathe on this thing wrong and it will change by 0.03g.

    Correct.

I gave that as an example to show how my scale was able to pick up the small difference. If they all weighed out to 5.00g, then it wouldn't be entirely accurate, would it?

    lol

  14. I've never spent more than 30 bucks on a scale. my first one i actually got for free cause my buddy broke it and gave it to me. 1 loose wire later i had my own scale.

but definitely go for one with 2 decimal places.

  15. You can get a very nice digital scale for 12 bucks, as has been mentioned. You don't need to spend anything more than that for weighing out cannabis. They are very easy to find as well, just google "digital scales". Scale technology is very cheap technology, so don't pay through the nose for it :)

  16. Try this one on for size. :p
