Also i plan on putting mylar above the ufo CFL dish to block the dead space once the plants go in. Still trying to figure out cooling issues. running out of money. any ideas?
Hey SBMS, nice place you have here dude, that cab is going to be perfect for the 150w That enclosed ballast def makes it a smidgen hotter in there huh, I also have an enclosed ballast lamp (250w) and it generates quite a bit As far as cooling things down more without spending money....all I can think of is just opening up the box a little bit but idk if detection is a huge issue.
Nope detection is no biggy. the front of it is going to be a sheet of black vinyl, with mylar on the inside. Going to be held up with velcro. so i can just undo a solid portion of the corner during the light period and shut it up during the dark. ? also going to have a fab closer to my lamp blowing up toward the exhaust. *During construction we took out the top sliding doors, and put the back on fully without putting the doors back in*
BUMP BUMP! I am ready for my seeds to get here. just doing some last minute touch up repairs and fixings. Added a sheet of mylar to kill the dead space that im not using right now. u can see how bright my veg room is now. haha. Anyway got one 3 speed fan to pick up and a few holes in that sheet so air can go up. Going to put up some more outdoor pics too if you find your ways over there!
Who said it had to be pretty to work? Lookin even better as you work on it. Is the three speed fan an oscillating one?
No but i plan on picking up an oscilating fan. putting that on the ground. then movin the 3 speed up closer to the HPS blowing out toward the exhaust.
just letting you know, that fan at the top looks like my 5 inch high velocity fan i have. And they run INCREDIBLY hot. after about 5 hours of straight running. i took one out of my cabinet and it went down almost 5 degrees. so id look into another fan for that.
So i ran that fan for about 4-5 hours. didnt heat up at all really. i need to figure out some way of getting cool air into the bottom
I ran some tests today. just because my cab isnt completely light sealed. Im going to run the 12 hours at night. The cab is in my garage linked up to the vents for exhaust and the 2 intakes are bringing in a nice morning breeze. How much light can actually affect the plant if it is exposed to it? the amount of light that gets in my garage is very minimal. but i can see in it when i go in the day. but barely.
My closet has never been fully light sealed. It probably lets in about a 1/4 moon's worth of light. It's indirect to the plant though. Some people say genetics have a large roll too. Outdoor strains aren't as light sensitive since they have the moonlight and other light polution to deal with. It's when you get into heavily engineered indoor strains that you might run into problems.
So quick question! I'm fine with 5000k daylights right? i know that a lot of people go for 6500 but im good withing 5000-6500k i think?. Gimme yo 2cents GC! Also my damn beans aren't here yet. I picked up a bag of ff soil and ordered a 3 pack of nutrients online. FF Grow big, Tiger Bloom, And big bloom. (Will someone tell me the difference between TB and BB?) haha is that yours growing? lets get some more updates on your babies! also in that fan i was talking about. if you take off the front cover youll notice theres almost like a heat sink behind the blades themselves. its that square behind the fan that acually generates heat, if your using it as an exhaust then it might be fine. but i took both my fans out and have a 6 inch and a computer fan and its wayyyy cooler.

alright so im suppose to be getting some storms this week. so ive decided to move my girls indoors for the next week or so as they finish up. Here we go.. the front plant looks close to the HPS because of the angle.
