High All, I was a little concerned when I went up into my attic today to find that one of my plants has had a growth spurt. She isn't producing much foilage but is getting really tall. She has been under exactally the same conditions as my other plants and all the others seem to be doing just fine. I am growing 10 plants in soil with 1 600w HPS Full Spectrum grolux which is roughly 2 feet away from the plants. The first picture is lanky lady and the other pic is another plant that is drooping for some reason! I don't understand why they are so different but i know they both have probs. They have all been over fed once with full strength 15-30-15 miracle grow ferts by mistake and haven't been fed otherwise. Since overferting I flushed them all with fresh PH Tested water 3 times the capacity of the pots. They have all been grown under the same conditions aswell. Temps get no higher than 30c and humidity is no lower than 15%. I have just put them into 10L pots today to see if they will improve (they were getting rootbound in the 5L pots). The soil mix i transplanted them into is as follows: 55% miracle grow multipurpose compost 5% Organic blood fish and bone 30% perlite 10% sharp sand I have just watered both of them until water ran out the bottom of the pots. Any ideas to what is causing their probs? The 3rd pic is the best one out of the 10 just to show you the difference. Hopefully I have provided enough info... Peace, mallett
hey rezinn, Thanks for the reply bud. I've heard so many bad things about miracle grow and miracle grow ferts I will NOT be usin' 'em again! The only problem i have when it comes down to buying soil is that I live in a small village and the supplies are very limited. Most of the stuff is miracle grow and I don't know what I need to ask for? Can you suggest what type/make of soil I should look out for in the future - perhaps I should ask for organic potting soil, organic ferts etc etc...? All soil sold over here in the UK doesn't even have NPK Ratio's on the bag! Only on the ferts. What do ya recon? Peace, mallett
the first plant looks like its been getting too hot ... the second looks like its been over waterd the 3rd looks pretty good .. im no expert ... you should know yourself if you could have waterd one plant more than the others .. and is the first one directly under the light ??? do they look any better after the repot ???
soil...hmm...I'm sorry homie, I cant help ya out. I never payed attention to soil from garden stores and stuff, becuz my step dad has his own garden, so he has really good and soft soil in the backyard. But I'm sure someone else can help ya out. Ask DurbanPoison, he seems to know alot. So yeah, send him a private message or something. Sorry I cant help ya.
I bolded the most important part of this... Anything that's all organic is usually good, but be specific about the time-release ferts thing. There's some good, time-release free soil at Wal-Mart
Next time you get that soil(miracle grow) try to flush it 1 or 2 times befor you transplant Its better for young plants.....
im not sure if it really is the mg. ive heard of plenty of people getting by using mg even though its not recommended esp slow release. are the plants clones? because if not then the first could be male they tend to stretch more with more space between nodes. also if they arnt clones genetics could have something to do with its different growth. even two seed from the same bud could have completely different traits. good luck bro
