Sativa Kush

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Cubs Guy17, Feb 8, 2011.

  1. So I went down to my one of my local clinics the other day and picked up an eighth of some Space Kush. It was marked, and the bud tender said it was sativa I believe 90/10. This confused me because I was always under the impression that the Kush family lineage was indica dominant. Is this just a result of the term Kush being used more loosely now and being tacked on to the end of everything? Just looking for some clarification, thanks :smoke:

  2. Few questions for clarity..
was this a top shelf strain?
did you get the genetics (not just the ratio) from the BT?

Given the name, I'd assume it's some sort of Space Jack strain that they changed the name on.

  3. Yes this was a top shelf strain and I'm sorry to say I do not remember the exact genetics but your Space Jack idea makes alot of sense. Thanks + rep

  4. I'm not familiar with the strain Space Kush, but you are correct that "kush" generally implies an indica dominant strain. Sounds like your budtender may have been incorrect, or again, like you said, the term "kush" is being tossed around loosely and ends up being tagged to buds which may or may not actually be kush.

  5. kush genetics originate from the hindu kush mountains and are indica dominant. but this doesnt mean that a strain labeled 'kush' today cannot be a sativa. for one thing, most of these strains are crosses with multiple strains which may be sativas, thus creating a hybrid with some kush genetics. the many different cuts of og kush for example are a very popular hybrid kush but it has very little afghan kush genetics in it lineage and is actually usually very much a sativa dominant hybrid. so 'space kush' could be a kush crossed with some sativa, making it sativa dominant, perhaps.

another thing to consider are the phenotypes of the plant. you can have, say 5 seeds of 'space kush', but depending on the stability of the genetics, this doesn't mean all 5 of the plants are going to show the same exact phenotypes consistently. there is always a chance a seed that typically yields an indica phenotype may produce a plant that carries a more sativa like phenotype and physical characteristics instead.

  6. I just ignore names in most instances. My favourite sativa I've had is a kush, Lemon Kush, so tasty.
