Sanitary 1 light Grow Room

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by CannaPrecision, Jan 4, 2020.

  1. Restricted on space in a garage, I built a small room in the corner...Since I couldn't find exact trays the size I like for my flood/drain configuration, I ended up fabricating the tray set up out of stainless and then got carried away into plumbing it with stainless sanitary fittings, food grade pump and hardware. The lower tray/ reservoir tank (19gal) has fitting around the bottom for aeration and agitation. All controls are wired into the individual plug outlets from a control panel I built on the exterior of the room allowing me to control each plug individually on timers, each plug also has an over ride for constant use. The LED light is by Fluence Bio engineering SPYDER 2P, along with a dimmer makes it easier to manage. (Co2 is imperative to using this particular light) For A/C i am using a mini split 1 ton, which is massive overkill, but it was the only unit i could interface with and control from the main control panel.

  4. What kind of fitting ?
Brass/copper plus a acid water is toxic to plants if its a recirculating system .

  5. Samsung is more efficient lighting .303 to the lights you bought is 2.7 Joules .

  6. Im curious to why co2 is imperative with that particular light?

  7. Yes, I sometimes use copper when doing mock up/initial testing, some stainless fittings take too long to get ... it had been changed out to stainless by the time the system was being used. Also uploaded a pic, assuming this was the fitting that was being pointed out...

  8. I have tested many lights, My preference is the Fluence Brand... Thanks for posting that for anyone who may be interested in Samsung product.

  9. PPFD's are higher / Light is too bright for plants, without Co2 supplementation, the plants will stress out...

  10. Thats because you have them too close. Lots of lights will do that. Theres several videos of some amazing grows using that light and no co2 supplementation

  11. Agreed...
Restricted Space (noted in original post) with Light that is too bright and close to plants = Imperative use of Co2 in combination with this light.

  12. So you have a proper co2 set up and not some homeade gimmick then? Mushroom bags and yeast/sugar are not good co2 supplementation. I learned the hard way loosing a bet to a guy with a proper co2 set up way back when. His damn co2 meter kept proving me wrong and i tried several different things.

  13. @CannaPrecision well done man. One of the cleanest setups I’ve seen in a long time. I love that you kept all the wires nice and tight/clean.

2 things that caught my eye.

    1. you mentioned flood and drain. It looks like 5gallon plastic buckets with coco. Are you going to keep them in coco? Or how is your setup going to work.
    2. Any way you can remount the driver for the lights outside the room with a cable to the lights? That driver is gonna throw out a lot of heat.

lastly go big or go home haha. Don’t listen to the no co2 people. I love growing with CO2. Not sure if u know this but if your gonna run CO2 u want warmer temps. 80-85F.

  14. Yes, I use a proper Co2 controller and regulator (Sentinel) and source my Co2 from tanks...

The buckets are actually just small 6 inch pots with holes/netted on the bottom, with coco, setting on top of 2 coco mats... it works well, roots are fairly happy that way. I will post pictures after I harvest to show more detail.

The driver can be mounted outside the room, but with the light at max power and A/C turned off, the room only gets to 93 degrees (F) (that was measured with the outside of room temp at 85 degrees (f) ), i dont believe moving the driver isn't totally necessary in this situation.

Been running Co2 in my rooms for years, wouldn't waste time growing without it...

  16. Well shit can’t wait to see the end results. Apologies for my false assumptions. Foe some reason I thought you were a newer grower so was just trying to help out.

Are you using any controllers ?

  17. Haha, all good man. I posted it because i see so much of the same stuff, and i build things different... I appreciate that your willing to offer up info, never know who you are helping. I uses controllers for everything, althought, they arent always conventional... I'm a mechanical engineer that specializes in robotics and automation, I constantly test and play with new ideas and ways to do things...

  18. Figures you are an engineer. That thing is way overbuilt! hahaha.

  19. Lol... Totally. I take that as a compliment...
