Safe to put Quantum 600 w/ plants in cab?

  1. I am a new grower. I have a new quantum 600 dimmable electronic ballast in an air cooled hood. My grow room is 27dx 41w x 56 h. I will have 3 or 4 plants in 5 gal. Bubble buckets. I plan on having the ballast set to 300w or 430w. Never 600w.

Is it safe to put the ballast in the cabinet? Will there be electronic interference that will effect the plants?

  2. as long as you have enough air flow and every thing to keep that bad boy cool i don't see why not

  3. this is something that ballast companies wont tell you, but you need to buy the appropriate wattage lamp you intend to run on.. a 600w lamp set on 300w will be no were near as efficient as a 300w lamp on the 300w setting..

  4. ^Really, I didnt know that.
Thats interesting and if true others could benefit from knowing.
Where or who told you tghis? U have a link?

  5. i am a commercial electrician by trade, i have been installing and working with ballast like this for a few years now. like i said, it is something these companies dont want you to know as the higher wattage products you buy the higher the price, they dont care that the product they are claiming will do everything except wipe your ass wont do half of what they say it will once they get your money.. this is one of the reasons customer service in this country is practically non-existant.
