Well, I guess we keep fighting, but this just sucks! Fresno County moves to ban dispensaries | CalPotNews.com
Sometimes it seems like stoners really can't get anywhere with the whole legalization thing. Now they wanna ban MEDICAL DISPERNSARIES?
Of course they say it's not a ban, just rezoning that won't allow a dispensary within a 1/2 mile of a residence. Try THAT in a city of 250,000.
i still think 19 was a powergrab. I'd vote no again. This was up in council before 19 was voted on. Thanks.
Dont be a damn fool if they say its gonna make pot legal, and you vote no, what do you expect? Idgaf who makes profit whether it be a teenager, an old man, or a corporation everyone nowdays is greedy anyways who cares who grows your pot? Americans dont deserve legal pot, plain and simple
Well, according to our dispensary owner's website, the end result was pretty much a thinly-veiled money grab. Big surprise. Fines will be levied on all dispensaries that keep their doors open($100 day1, $200 day2, etc. up to $10,000/year). Seems as though they want to voice their opposition, but would rather have the cash. The fight continues on!
You make it sound so easy. And by the way if you grow your own, why do you give a fuck about the "powergrab" Prop 19 would've caused?
I'm saying it SHOULD be easy for everyone. It was a powergrab for those that wrote the bill. I won't get into the Prop 19 debate again, as it's past and there are WAY too many threads already, but regardless of Prop 19's fate this was in the works anyway. There's been a lot of stupid people around the area that think the right to grow means that you can do as you please. Legally, you pretty much can, but you have to be prepared for every punk in the neighborhood to try to steal your weed. The latest big incident was a group of people grow a TON of weed and distributing it nationally. But they weren't bothered by the law before they slipped. Same situation with the previous incident where a legal grower decided to fill his entire backyard with plants. He was within his legal rights and did get a few "inspections" by local PD who left him alone. HIS "DUH!" moment came when someone spotted his 8' plants over his 6' fence sitting across the street from the largest park/zoo in central Cali(WTF?) and decided they wanted to take some. The wheelchair-bound grower caught them in the act and shot one in the head from behind as he was running away. The grower's response when the police arrived, "He steal, I shoot!" This is Fresno, Calif if anyone cares to google and read a couple interesting stories.
The largest city, I believe, IS Fresno. It covers a good chunk of the Central San Joaquin valley and a nice bite of the Sierras too. I believe Fresno is approaching 300,000 population but the county is home to MANY communities of 25,000 or less.
At least 60-70% of people I know consider Fresno County to be the armpit of California. I personally live just outside county lines, but almost all my medical resources(dispensary included) are in Fresno County.
Most definitely true frank. I'm baffled at the situations people put themselves into and then blame it on something other than the fact that they made a conscious decision that put them there in the first place.
I talked to somebody from a dispensary yesterday who handed me a phone number to call so I could tell my office representatives about keeping Kings County dispensaries open, he said that Fresno decided to leave the dispensaries alone.
They decided on 12/7 to move forward with a "ban" on them. This ban is enforced through fines that begin at $100 day1 your are open after the ban, $200 day2, etc until you reach an annual cap of $10,000. $10k. Really, for a dispensary? We have over 4000 members. I say we collect three dollars per member for dues, pay the bill, and have a great BBQ/concert with the remaining $2k. We've had get-togethers like this before, but the dispensary always paid. Now we can almost look at it as the county paying for our BBQ!
The city of Fresno enacted a ban either last year or early this year so all the dispensaries moved into county islands within the city. Now we've got to deal with them. They could make a hell of a lot more than $10k if they would just accept and tax us, but they have their own agenda.
Yea... Pretty obvious the city official etc are against any type of MJ....Period!!......Time to get off the cough and grow your own or, find a caregiver before they enact an ordanance against that... LOL..
