i'm considering picking up one of these: Soler and Palau TD-100 4"/100MM Inline Mixed Flow Duct Fan for a SMALL STEALTH cab. really small, really stealth. the inside will probably be around 2.5-3 cubic feet, so i don't need a monster fan, but temps can easily reach 100+ degrees with 3 80mm pc fans pushing through a 3/4" layer of activated carbon... i'm hoping something like this (or similar) would do the trick... anyone have any experience with these? are they pretty quiet? know of anything that's quieter? i just would like to hear of peoples experiences with these before i commit ya know?
I own one of those fans. Its very quiet and can handle much more static pressure than PC fans. You'll want to use some foam rubber padding of some sort to isolate the minimal vibration it produces. Shock mounting/suspension with bungee cords is ideal. I can't recommend this line of fans enough!
i agree as well the td-100 is cooling my 250watt HID and will be buying another to replace the pc fans i have for exhaust. the s&p is the quietest thing in my cab. it is rated for 100cfm. im not sure how overly inflated other fans claims or if this one under estimates but it is 5xs stronger/quieter than the 88cfm 4" booster fans. ** but really, it is WAY to much fan for that small of a space. or just enough for super filter. either way you are going to have to mount the fan outside the box i think. 3cbft is kinda small and you dont want to eat that space with a huge fan. tho the s&p is powerfull enough for the bends and scrubber to be mounted to the back of your box if you can.
I have 2 of the 100X and 1 of the 150s I really like the X and would suggest the extra power / better materials if i remember correctly for the small upcharge. Best price I found was lightningdirect.com too
well, since it is such a small space, and the td-100 is smaller than the x (according to the specs i've seen...), do you guys think i could get by with the td-100 (not the td-100x)?
if its a small space 100 is fine i remember seeing something about different motor or something the 100x is the same build as the 150 200 etc but the 100 is a cheaper version is all. I have a 100X and love it but I can't say anything either way for the 100
I've read great reviews, but I've also read that the air moving through it makes it really loud... is this true? Im creating a very small grow and sound is a big issue. Does anyone also know how this compares with panasonics whisper line (sepcifically the inline 120cfm version?)
