Allow me to introduce you to the best music in the world. You are going to love it whether you love it or do. No, I didn't mis-type. Read it again. You are all guests in my reality, which means I am in charge. As the dude in charge, I have declared Rush kings of all things music-y. You all, as citizens of my reality, will do as you are commanded. Pretty please. Command 1: Learn a little bit about rush. Command 2: Smoke up and listen to rush. These are simple tasks. I am a kind ruler. FIRST; LEARN! Rush are Canadian. Rush is so good, they make Canada look cool. True story. SOME FACTS; They formed in 1968. They have had the same 3 members throughout the bands career, except for in the very beginning. The band was not founded by the three current members. They are still touring. They are currently writing a new album (I almost shit myself when I found out) 14 of their albums have gone platinum, most of them multi-platinum. They have sold 40 million albums worldwide. Geddy Lee; Frontman. The face of Rush. High tenor vocalist, world class bassist. When he sings 'normally', it is a pleasant rock 'n' roll voice. When he wails and truly belts out notes, there is NOTHING in the WORLD like it. Neil Peart is the greatest drummer who ever lived (he's still alive and kicking). His ridiculously long solos are the stuff of legend. Alex Lifeson plays his guitar unlike anybody else. I wont say he's the best in the world, but NOBODY sounds like him, and he is quite incredible. As good as Vai or Satch IMHO. Smoke a bowl or two, click this link, and listen to the entire 20 minute song. (technically it's 3 songs in one overture, but fuck semantics). If you've never heard the 2112 overture, you need to. If you don't agree that it's pure brilliance, see a doctor. Absolutely love Rush, Neil Peart has also been a big inspiration to me. It's a real shame that they aren't well known over here.. my friends listen to all the classics: Led Zep, Metallica, Guns n Roses, The Rolling Stones, etc. but when I mention Rush they shrug But yeah amazing band to listen to while baked and nice music selection, Limelight was the first Rush song I listened to. Rush isn't that great, but I give them mad props for still doing what they love to do. My buddy saw them in concert a few months back, said it was one of the best concerts he went to. And he's been to A LOT of concerts
That seems to be the biggest complaint that my friends tell me when I make them listen to Rush. I think his voice is really awesome though You may want to check out YYZ, no vocals but amazing instrumental: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKBLSkN2sRk]YouTube - YYZ[/ame]
