Hey guys, My ladies are running out of room they just keep growing up too fast.. in the second week of flowering and I need to make them stop growing taller.... Any ideas?
tie the branches down... the total of plants u got in your room right now, next grow cut it in half, so u have enuff space for your plant and each receive enuff of light......
Just tie the tips down , just barely at first, then everyday make it come down a little lower. only the tips that are growing to hit the light/top Next time, flower a little earlier , at a shorter height. goodluck
somebody told me to cut the "Kolas"... is that the right word? the very tops of the plants. I told him he was seriously retarded, but I want them to stop growing upwards.
Hehe you can't stop them from growing upwards, just divert their growing energy a different direction. You can do this a few ways. Tie them down by bending the stems in a U-shaped direction toward the soil, called LST or low stress training. Lots of folks use this method on the boards, check my journal or search for LST. SCROG or SOG them, meaning use a screen suspended closely above the plant while pushing each new bud site through a different hoe in the screen so they all grow at the same speed and the main stem is basically growng horizontally. FIMMING the plant, or cutting HALF the top budsite off, will slow the growth of the main stem and let the lower branches "catch up" somewhat. Stressful so slows growth some. TOPPING the plant, or cutting the whole top main bud site off, will split the plant top into two main shotts as opposed to one. This also stresses the plant but keeps it temporarliy from skyrocketing. Best to start any of these methods while still in veg state, can do it in flower but I'm guessing you don't want to add any time on to your flowering cycle. I would suggest either of the first 2 options for less stress and I have used LST with great success. The plant will bush out so even then you have to manage your horizontal space as well as vertical space. One of the BIGGEST things I learned in my first grow is YOU WILL RUN OUT OF ROOM lol .
