Earlier today I downloaded a file off of a torrent without a problem. When I tried to open the file it brought me to a disc burner, so I went and got a disk and burned the file. But whether i put the disc in or clicked the iso file they both took me into a list of the different components of the file and did not open the program they were supposed to. I did some research and most of my sources told me I needed to mount the iso file. So I downloaded poweriso and did just that (or tried) but nothing happened. I have no idea what to do and would appreciate some help getting this program to run.
Alright you got step one completed, which is to acquire poweriso. Now what youll wanna do is follow these steps: On the Right-Top, there's an option called MOUNT. In it, you'll seee "Set Number Of Drives". Under this select, 1 Drives. This will create a VIRTUAL Drive in My Computer. And now, click on the MOUNT button again and select MOUNT IMAGE TO DRIVE [Drive Letter:] under MOUNT. Select the file, go to my computer, doubleclick the new Drive you created and the next thing you know shit will be happening. Remember when you're done to unmount the image and disable the virtual drive under the SET NUMBER OF DRIVES option. Otherwise when you try to delete the .iso file after installation (if you decide to) it'll give you trouble saying "the file is in use".
Thank you for responding, I completed all of those steps but when I double clicked the virtual drive it just took me to a list of folders with the programs components in them. Is the file bad or am I doing something wrong?
Poweriso lets you look at a .iso like your were exploring a CD in the CD-Drive. In this case you would navigate to setup to install the game you just need to extract all the files first. i personally use Deamon Tools to open .iso's Quick mount/install for ISO's
hey if what second poster said don't work try opening the file in power iso like you did, so that it shows all the componenets of the file, look for the one that says setup.exe or something like that. Double click and it will ask if you want to extract all the stuff to a temporary folder. Do that and once it's done extracting it should begin installation. It's the same thing as mounting to a disc but faster and easier imo. Pm me if you need help I have lots of experience with torrented games n stuff. Good luck man!
I use DaemonTools, it's always been the most trouble-free for me... choose the image, mount it, and instantly, it acts as if a CD has been inserted into the drive. Depending on what you pirated, try to find autorun.exe or setup.exe if nothing happens when you mount. Then run one of those and it should start right up.
So far nothing has worked for me, there are no files in it with setup.exe or anything like that. The file is 1.18 gigs and i scanned it for viruses and didn't find any so i know it has the information in it but i just can't find out how to make the program run.
Try downloading Disc-Tools.com. Lite Version Install Right click on the icon in the Task Bar Virtual CD\DVD choose a drive Mount Locate .ISO It should AutoRun from there.
Thank you to everyone for your advice but I am giving up on these files. I deleted everything and will be starting again. The file I was trying to download was rosetta stone for italian, if anyone knows an easy and user friendly way to get these files please pm me.
Don't give up! You did everything correctly both times (the CD burning worked!) You are just not getting the AutoPlay on your computer, so you need to start the program manually. Find the autorun.ini file (or maybe it is autorun.inf), right click on it, and open with Notepad. It will show you which file normally would run automatically when you put the disc in. Note: The only reason you would need PowerISO or the other programs mentioned, is to skip the step of burning the image to a disc.
Did you extract the files to a temporary folder?.... Poweriso never fails... just make sure you always have it mounted, extract the files when asked instead of running it directly first. Then look for you install file which could be a setup.exe or autorun.exe or launcher.exe and installer.exe after that go to your downloads folder and run the normal application.exe Oh and dont forget about the crack files....
