Running fan through 1000w light

  1. I have my fan running through my reflector, on the other side of my reflector I have my duct work attached to my carbon filter that is located outside my grow tent. Is it better to have my carbon filter inside blowing the air with the fan attached to it instead of the fan blowing cool air over by thousand watt bulb? The fan is pulling cool air from outside. I am a 60 year old woman trying her first grow.

  2. ideally you want the filter at the top of the tent ran to the hood then to the fan that is pushing the air out/outside.

  3. I don't think there's a problem with the way you've got it setup honestly. The main thing is to get that vented air run through the carbon filter to eliminate small. Where it's hanging at isn't too much of a big deal as long as it's in the right place in the chain. Some of these tents people use are so tiny that there would be no room inside for anything like that and I would imagine the only option is to hang it outside the tent.

Congratulations on diving in at your age. We started our grow late in life too. It's a lot of work but some great fun.

Read in the "new grower" threads here. Your setup is only half the grow. If you don't get the basics of growing these plants inside down, you'll be lost shortly after getting seeds/clones into soil. I don't know how much gardening experience you have, but I've been a gardener all my life and had to totally retrain my brain as far as growing technique is concerned. It's not like growing veggies in the garden, so it's imperative that you take the time before getting too deep in to research and read up on the basics of growing inside. There are lots of posts on the new grower threads specifically for the new inexperienced grower. These posts contain the vital information you need to know to pull this off with as little stress as possible. Watering practices, lighting, potting technique, soil, nutes, pH range, etc. All these are parts of the "growing" process and you need good solid information about each one. Over watering is the biggest killer of plants by new growers, so first off, start with learning the way to tell if you plant even needs water and then the right way to water it when it does. (HINT): If you live in the US, you can use water straight from the tap without problems. It just needs pH adjusted to a range of 6.3 to 6.7 for soil grows. Don't use filtered water since it has had all the nutrients filtered out of it). It'll take you a while to figure it all out, but once you do, it's just a repeating cycle and you do it over and over and over. The more you grow, the better you get at it and if I can do it, ANYBODY can do it!! Have fun and happy growing!! TWW
