Rumples Single Plant Grow

I have been reluctant to do another grow journal because the last two journals I did turned into a nightmare. For the last three years things have gone real smooth with the exception of the two grow journal mishaps.

I reduced my number of plants from three to two a few years ago, but kept the same cycle time of 70 days total. The reduction of one plant did not cause a decrease in yield. What it did do was increase the amount of “A-Grade” bud and decrease the popcorn and scrap. The larger bud size was noticeable due to more available light.

Now I want to try and yield the same from one plant as I did from two, while still keeping the 70 day cycle time (10 days veg and 60 days flowering). Sounds impossible? It might be. I harvested my first attempt at a single plant during Thanksgiving. It did not yield as much as my normal two plant grow. But it came close. I took a few months off to re-tool. I am now ready to give it another try..

• Strain: Nirvana White Widow
• Lights: 400W Lumatek digital ballast hooked to Sylvania GrowLux HPS Bulb or a 400W homedepot MH bulb.
• Hood: Cool tube.
• Hydroponic setup: DWC/Bubble-Bucket
• Nutrients: General Hydroponics Flora Series. Using the Lucas formula.

The two holes on the left side of my room are not my intakes. They feed my clone room that is attached to the side:


Remounted my CO2 regulator and placed it high on the right side wall:


New outdoor timer:


My two intakes. The one with the electric damper is for cooling the room. The one with the ducting cools the lamp:


I placed some panty-hose over the top of my damper to filter out all bugs:


The exhaust is sucked out the top through the damper and ducting mounted to the ceiling:


I installed a drain in the floor. Under the floor is PVC that goes through the garage wall and into some shrubs. I dont have to haul old nutrients out of my garage anymore:

Fill the basket up to the top so it holds your clone in place.
Day One:






I get around a pound of bud from two plants every 70 days in this same broom closet. Lets hope I can get close to the same thing with this single.

 

My target height is 4.5'. I come in very close to that most of the time. My Master Kush went over 5' and I had to cut the top off (very sad). I have been doing this same plant from clone for years now. I can get it at target if I don't fool with stuff.

 

Good question. I only use the single bucket with no reservoir for the ten days of veg. Then I fill them all up with flowering formula. The other two buckets allow a real nice buffer between top-offs. This is another reason I want this single plant grow to work out. I hate to mix new nutrient, the three buckets will allow me to go a few weeks.

I use the old Lucas formula. I use half strength for veg. He now says to just use the same formula (flowering) for boths, I am going to stick with what works for me. I do the water top-off method and not the nutrient add-back.

 

Five days later. Things seem normal:

 

It's been ten days. She is all set for flowering. Switched bulbs and nutrients then changed the program on my timer.

 

Just ran out and measured it. Came out to 16" tall. I have no idea how much everything costs.
