rumor about feminized

    i heard it is buy to buy the feminized seeds because the way they get the female ones is with some chemical which reduces the yield and quality. i do not know if this is true or not and i dont wanna waste my money on the fems if they r no good.

    I think that is incorrect, but the general consensus is that feminised seeds are more likely to go hermie. They are, after all, the progeny of hermies.

    ok thank you. actually the one whole told me it didnt believe it but he mentioned it. well now i just need to pick my strains lol its so hard. do you guys think i should go feminized or just get regular and hope to get female?

    I have found that feminised seeds are just so expensive, it is better to spend well under less than half the cost on normal seeds and throw the males away. Just my 2cents

    see thats what i wanna do is just got to like highgrade and buy 10 seeds for 55 bucks or w/e it is but im afraid that with my luck ill get no females or ill fuck up and not know how to tell the diff and leave one male to ruin my females.

    agreed that this can save money, but then you have to take into consideration, space, the care males need before they even show their sex

    well even if you messed up and got a polentated female, youll end up with thousands of seeds and probably never have to buy again.

    thats a good point, but i dont have too much space so i dont want a SOG. i will probably try my luck with regular seeds.

    I disagree with some of this. First, the minor care that males will need before showing sex is no big deal. I sex all my seed plants in small, 6"-8" pots - so they not only take up very little space, but they use almost no nutrients and very little soil. Once sex is shown, males are destroyed. Females are transplanted and flowered out. The best one is returned to veg, and kept as a mother plant.

    Pollenation does not necessarily mean thousands of seeds... not even close. I had a hermie Hash Plant pollenate some Kush girls once... I got 25 seeds total from 2 entire plants, and the quality of the smoke was not compromised.

    Personally, I wouldn't spend money on feminized seed. Tossing out a few males is no big deal... it's just a part of growing. Tossing one or two hermies sucks, but it happens sometimes. Having to toss out a whole grow that hermied would really piss me off... and as cantharis pointed out, since fem seeds come from hermies, they are much more likely to end up the same. I've heard of fem seeds producing 100% males - which would never happen with regular seeds.

    If you germinate 10 beans, you're guaranteed to come away with about 5 females... there are no guarantees with fem seeds.

    I highly recommend Highgrade Seeds.

    by thousands i generally ment it as alot, its uk slang for alot, usually id say millions.

    Makes sense... about the slang, I mean. But some people really think that pollenation literally equals hundreds or thousands of seeds... just want to make sure the new guys/girls don't get confused.
