I don't know if this is a problem or not but I keep seeing small roots popping up from the cocosoil. I keep covering them up, but I don't understand why this happens and what to do about it. Any advice?
are your plants root bound at the bottom of the pot??? you will find when they get to the bottom of the pot they start banching out every way possible ... and so eventually make there way out of the top of the soil/medium ... Solution:- repot ... is your soil too compact half way down the pot?? the roots will do the same as above only earlier ... when you turn the pot obviously no roots will be seen as they cant penatrate the compact soil .. Solution :- repot .. making sure your soil/medium is nice and fine ... like bread crumbs ..
Well I repotted not long ago, perhaps barely two weeks ago. The soil I use is coco and is very loose. When I repotted I didn't press the soil all too hard because I wanted the soil to absorb lots of air and water. I don't know how many gallons the pot is but it is big enough for a good rooting system. And yes there are enough holes in the bottom. So far I haven't seen any bugs since sprouting the seeds, and the roots are not diseased. I guess I'll just keep covering them with soil.
