Roots

  1. I have a very good question I think can I add extra perlite to my soil to get thicker and better roots if anyone has any tips or answers on this please help

  2. Yes - any added aeration tool will help roots penetrate the medium quicker but it's a happy medium too. Perlite, pumice, rice hulls, buckwheat hulls and cocoa hulls all do the job well.

    A happy nutritious soil is first and foremost though...

  3. Most growers add 20% - 30% Perlite to their bagged soils .
     
  4. totally need some sort of aeration like perlite/rice hulls/etc. to make sure your roots can thrive. basically the roots need oxygen, so aeration will allow the roots to breathe better and grow healthy and strong.
     
  5. I use to add perlite to my FF ocean forest but, it made the soil dry out a bit too quickly for my tastes in a fabric pot.
