Root problem and leaves problem, please help

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by nt403, Mar 1, 2010.

  1. I just set up a hydro system with 5 gallon buckets. For the first few weeks everything going so good, healthy plant, then going to the 3 weeks of flowering, the leaves started to yellow and the roots are rotten(yellow roots and smell funny) plant started to die. please help what is the reason for it to die?

here is what I set up with..
5 gallon bucket and I drill the drain hole 1.5" from the bottem of the bucket.
I use 2 spinner for each bucket.
2 air stone in the reservoir.
light off room temp. 20 c
light on room temp. 25 c
    reservoir temp (light off 60F)
    reservoir temp (light on 75F)
    PH 6.5-6.8

someone told me that I should put a air stone in each bucket to have more oxygen in the water, they told me that the water still in the bucket have no oxygen and the water is dead, this is why, and I dont know if this is true or not. Please Help. Thanks

  2. Airstones are a good move...Im not an expert on hydr0 so someone else chime in here...could this be a ph problem (the chart says 5.5-6.1)...thats my guess

Have you change your reservoir water out yet?

  3. Yes I did changed the reservoir every week. I still don't know what is the problem, Hope someone coukd help.

  4. You need something to move / air-rate the water in the buckets.

The ph is too high for hydro, a good ph range is 5.8 - 6.0. When the ph is too high, or too low it causes deficiencies and toxicity of vital nutes.
    Are you giving them nutes?
If so, what are ur ppm's?

Can you post a pic of your plants and roots? Pics will make it much easier for us to help you ;)

good luck with your grow :smoke:
    Doin'

  5. sounds like root rot. good luck. you will need it.

  6. I would bet that having a very ph is your problem for sure. Something around 5.8 is recommended as a base. You can obviously dial it in to fit the actualy needs of your specific babies after a week or so.

    Good luck.
