okay so i ordered a german Roor diffused downstem off o EDIT and it came within about a week. After getting it and using it for a few days i noticed that only the top row of holes was really being used and only through about half an inch of water. is it still getting the necessary filtration and is there a way for me to aximize usage of my diffuser. i looked on yuotube and it seems like pretty much all of them are the same way. why is this and is there a way to get more out of you roor diffuser because all of the reviews ive read are amazing.

heres some pictures...maybe my water level is bad? but ive messed around with it

  2. yep. both of mine function the same way. I felt ripped off after i payed 50 bucks for it.

  3. its because the smoke want to rise and your pulling it down first, once it get to the first couple hole its going to go up..the faster and harder you pull the further the smoke will go down thus using more holes.

  4. so is there any point of any of the other holes. do they serve a purpose or are there because people think a 21 hole diffuser is cool. would i be better off just using the diffuse i already had with 4 slits and an open bottom instead of the 21 holes

  5. is there something wrong with it...?

there is nothing wrong with the water levels. cept maybe you got one thats a little short

  6. All of my diffusers do this. With the holes it uses the top holes and with the slits it uses the top slits. But like the guy above me said, if you pull harder it uses more holes.

  7. yeah the downstem that came with it was 10.5 cm so i just got the same size bt i do agree it could be longer. i just want to maximize the usage of all the holes. dont get me wrong its super smooth now but i thought the diffuser would make a bigger difference

  8. well with the holes being around the whole bottome allow you to not have to worry about the holes being the right way and if you rarely clean when the top holes clog up the smoke will just go to the bottom holes which have not been used

  9. im religious about cleaning it. if its not shiny and crystal clear i get annoyed and will clean it

  10. The water is too high, which is a result of the diffuser being too short for that bong. I would raise hell with EDIT for sending you that diffuser after you dropped several hundred on a .de for sure...

  11. the roor itself is actually roor.us that i bought from a designer glass studio in seattle with a large selection of roor tubes but since the roor.us factory shut down there just selling what they have left. (which is still a good 40 tubes). only the diffuser is .de

that being said, would it be beneficial for me to order a different sized downstem from EDIT?

  12. Definitely your diffuser looks short. It should almost be touching the bottom of your tube for max filtration. You can see how high up the water is. I would try to get the right size diffuser if i was you. Was the original downstem that came with it that high up in the water column? If so, they gave you the wrong size when you purchased it. I'd be upset at the shop also, for giving me the wrong size original ds. You barely get any filtration that high up...

  13. I think it's just the nature of the whole system. Gravity and physics... pulling harder would allow the smoke to reach further holes.

  14. This is the original downstem it came with. Water level is the same as with the diffy tho

  15. The reason to have the downstem almost touching the bottom of your tube is not for max filtration (unless you keep the water level just as high as with a short downstem) but it just allows more volume for smoke to fill up your bong. Your de. downstem offers the same about of filtration as if your downstem almost touched the bottom of the bong, because to get the least amount of drag people normally put their water level just barely above the top holes of the downstem.

There really isn't a problem with your downstem, except you lose some (not that much) volume that you could have had for milking the bong. Also, like everyone said the harder you pull the more holes will be in use. Pay attention next time you clearing your bong hit, almost all your holes in your DS will be in use. Having that many holes makes clearing easier (less draggy) since you generally suck harder when clearing the bong which utilizes most of the holes in your downstem.

  16. if you want more filtration the only thing to do is suck harder. but realy you shouldve got a longer downstem (althow im sure the difference is very miniscual.)

  17. tilt it to make it straight.

  18. Hi, million year old thread. That tube isnt even alive anymore

  19. The extra holes are to reduce drag when you are clearing it, after you lifted your bowl. That's when the suction is much harder and faster so all the holes at that point get used for a faster/easier clear.
