Ron Paul 2012

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by honestjim, Jan 15, 2012.

  1. I consider myself a liberal for the most part, especially when it comes to social issues. I'm pro gay rights and pro women's choice and I would probably vote for Obama. However, I like Ron Paul and if he somehow wins the Republican Nomination I will have a tough choice on my hands. I like the fact that he wants to end the war on drugs, obviously. I also like his foreign policy, which is end all wars and bring our troops home now. He is pro life and against gay marriage, BUT feels it should be controlled by the states and not by the federal government. So giving states the full authority on these issues is what many of us would want anyway. I'm not sure how his economic policies would work, cutting 1 trillion dollars worth of spending, but nothing anyone else has done has worked either. As a hardcore democrat I must say Ron Paul makes a lot of sense. Thoughts or opinions ?

    Yes. This.

  3. I'm not a democrat but I'm heavily liberal, and no I don't agree with a huge portion of his views, I think libertarianism is a load of shit. Less government has been tried, we had very little regulation, etc. during the 1800s. And I don't think it was very much fun.

No no, I'll definitely be voting Obama. Ron Paul seems to come off very enticing to young people who haven't really looked very closely at libertarianism. Or maybe they have. Either way it's wack =)

  4. His idea of bringing all the troops home and ending all wars would actually cost the states so much money, it's ridiculous.

  6. Check out the politics forum

  7. Fuck that.

  8. big government is a lot worse than libertarians. look at 2008 financial melt down. obama signed NDAA bill. which means Americans can get arrested forever without trial. obama has failed countless promises. like closing gitmo , stoping the worse. but now he is increasing wars even worse than bush. cracking down on medical mj patients. and more tougher on drugs
vote for ron paul :hello: all this nonsense will stop if ron paul is president

  9. I am sorry, but MORE GOVT is the most horrible idea I have ever heard. No offense liberals, but anytime government interferes with public affairs and business it has only made things or debt worse. Look back over the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, man. Those stated that the federal government is a product of the states and therefore the states have ultimate power of nullification. Our government today is warped and, sadly, corrupt. Also I am heavily against George Soros. That man is evil and it just so happens, democrats, that he is controlling your party instead of the republican party because it is easier to manipulate a party that believes it is constantly changing even though it's basis for existence and its policies are now at least 20 years old. I hate politics and that is why I try to know as much about history as possible, because I don't trust "many bloodsucking leaches."

  10. Lots of great posts here, but I still like Paul. Even Bill Mayer, who is a huge liberal, admitted Ron Paul made a lot of sense. The vets coming home would not cost a much money as people think. There are going to be some of those vets that start small businesses and stimulate growth. Ron Paul just comes across as a really smart guy and the video of his predictions is awesome.

  11. They got a debate tonight, but they let Mitt Romney talk to much. That fake bastard would say and do anything to win an election. No conviction.

  12. Guys, we all know Vermin Supreme's gonna win, so theres no point in talking about this.

  13. Whenever I tell friends that I'm voting for Ron Paul either way, they always assume it's because of his idea of legalizing weed. But see, one quality shouldn't be a make or break in voting the most powerful man in America into office. Kind of like the bullshit where people will only vote for a president if they agree that gays are bad or that God spins all of the planets. It doesn't matter. I want a president that can legitimately say "Hey guys, I've read the Constitution." and most importantly, someone that knows that nearly half of the issues in our federal government should be left to the states. Let the People decide for themselves, and for their STATES, about social issues. I'm all for the government helping out people, but Ron is right, we can't depend on them for juggling all of our problems, and we can't let it collapse under it's own weight like it is now. There was an article the other day where Ron went to eat breakfast, and some old snobby woman came over and said "HOW DO U FEEL ABOUT GAYS?" And Ron Paul said "Honestly, I don't care. Let them do whatever, it's not hurting anyone." and she responded "But it's immoral" to which he said "Leave it to the People to decide."

And I look at Mitt. Mitt. ....Mitt, the guy who said "Corporations are people too guys!" About as absurd as the slaves being worth 3/5 of a person law. Mitt, the guy who saw an old man with a Vietnam Veteran hat, said "Ah! A veteran!" and approached him, only to find he wasn't just a veteran, but a gay veteran, and just stood there awkwardly. Mitt, the guy that walked away from a terminally ill paraplegic who asked if he'd arrest him for smoking weed after saying "yeah, I would. Just use synthetics, bro."

All I see with him is "Look, I know you guys want to talk about the shutting down of the governments in every East Coast state, which...y'know, my bad. But let's talk about how socialist it is that we're banning expensive, less green incandescent light bulbs for futuristic greener ones! How UNAMERICAN"

  14. This old Congressman from Texas inspires people. I like the sound of liberty, and this guys is all about liberty.

  15. I think you are referring to Mitt Romney, and Vermin Supreme is a perfect way to describe Mitt. He is the classic "Top 1%" republicans nominee, and that alone sends up red flags for me. He will help the rich and enslave the little guys. If anyone but Paul wins that nomination I say four more years of Obama.

  16. I don't know if you knew, but Obama was pushed to sign NDAA and like 80 percent of republicans voted FOR it.
And I don't even live in the US.

  17. True, but that doesn't change the fact that Obama has not been liberal enough. Troops were supposed to be home and he promised no federal interference with medical marijuana states. However federal agents still raid California MMJ establishments.

  18. There was this same thread here yesterday and it was deleted.

Someone called me stupid for not trusting any politician...HA!

  19. I guess they don't like apprentice smokers talking about issues. This is the only thread I look at, so I guess that's why I posted it here. As for your statement about trust, I agree. Most politicians are just not trustworthy. They say anything to get elected and once in office they throw ethics and what the people want out of the window. I do however, get a different impression from Ron Paul. I believe he will do whatever is necessary to get done what he wants to get done.
