Rockwool and PH?

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by seaofgreen111, Jun 4, 2009.

  1. Hey guys,
What should I keep my PH at if I decide to go with rockwool slabs for my clones? I am currently using GH nutes and the lucas formula. My clones are rooting in rockwool macro plugs and should be ready in a week. It's either that or pots filled with hydroton. Either way they are going to an 4X4 ebb and flow table.
    Thanks.....

  2. ph for rockwool is 5.7....i'm almost positive.

A little pH fluctuation is to be expected and even necessary for optimal nutrient uptake. If the roots are in ebb and flow, you should keep the working pH range to 5.5 to 6.5. This is because when a pot of medium dries out in an intermittent irrigation system, nutes become concentrated, and pH drops in the root zone to a value the roots thrive in.
