RO/DI waste water

  1. Just wondering if i could use the waste water from my RO/DI filter which i use for my aquarium.

Or because its considered "waste" should it be voided

  2. what were you thinking of using it for?
Surly not drinking or plant use ...

  3. well i was wondering if it could be used for plants.
i dont know what the waste water would be high in really other than phosphates

  4. Reverse osmosis also removes bacteria from water and the waste from ro is very high in alkaloids so definitely do not use it for your plants. Use the stuff from the other tube lol.

  5. Use the waste water to wash your clothes

  6. Man - your tap water better NOT be high in Phosphates!
    Likewise bacteria!

With my water the major constituent I'm removing with my RO is about 300 mg/L of calcium.
If I was to use this waste water on plants, clothes, cars, dogs, cats, etc I would expect them to covered in calcium deposits..

  7. Well my i use my RO/DI filter for my saltwater fish tank, as phosphates in my saltwater create bad algae.
as far as i know thats all its really removing, along with chlorine, as i have to add Mg and Ca supplements to the water.

It's not a huge deal, i was just wondering if i could make use of all that water as opposed to feeding it straight down thte drain.
