Hi. Basically I made a really popular warcraft 3 mod called risk next gen. Recently it's not as played but thats because a glitch with our bot servers. Anyways, I spent some time making it here and there starting around 07 and came out with a beta of it in 09. I've been updating it infrequently ever since.

Essentially it is a combination of RTS and the board game risk. The FFA version takes a ton of sc2 like micro and macro, along with diplomacy skills such as manipulation and deception. The 1v1 games are pure micro and macro skill vs skill matches and are somewhat similar to chess matches with micro, it's all about quick and correct decisions when the micro skills are similar.

Perhaps one of the greatest things about Risk Next Gen, aka rng is that we have a ranking system. We one of the first wc3 mods to have ranking and honestly I feel the website dev/signer did a better job than many ranking systems for real games. The stats are pretty detailed and soon we'll be releasing an even better version of the stats.

The website can be found at risknextgen.com. There are different "seasons" which consist of 100 day periods. Whoever is the highest rank at the end of the season for 1v1 and for ffa is the season winner.

The goal of the game is to conquer the world, or in this case, 135 out of 180 cities. Every territory (which consists of different amounts of cities) are worth gold. You get additional gold for owning a continent. You receive gold at the end of every turn. There is no building, only fighting on land and sea, gold management, and diplomacy. The units/soldiers fight in different ways and are used for different purposes and require different skills to master. For every 4 units you kill you reciever an additional gold, so it increases incentive to fight effectively or your enemies will grow stronger. To take a city, kill all enemy units nearby it's circle.

The learning curve is very steep. FFA games require skills with many units. The land fights include infantry, tanks, and various cavalry/ melee units.. The ships include many different ways to fight naval battles. A pro can own a game full of noobs in 15 minutes. Games generally last between 20 and 2 hours. There are many different modes and variations to the game.

Here is what the 1v1 gameplay looks like between some good players. 1v1s usually last anywhere between 2 and 20 minutes. A single mistake can equal game over:

FFA Gameplay, a totally different monster. I don't see any good videos on yotube for FFA, but it is a very intense and different skill than 1v1 because you fight differently and you have to manipulate other players into not fighting you and attacking other players etc and you are fighting up to 11 other players. If the players are dumb you can sometimes win easily without them all attacking you:

You can play by either joining games on wc3 battle.net or pirating wc3 and joining from private servers for free. The concepts of this game are very simple. To become a master is very very very hard. Players on average win 1 out of 25 games. There are 12 players in each game. Pros win around 90% of their games.

  2. In the videos, Rev = How much gold you make at the end of the turn, Ar= your army size, Ki= Kills, De= Deaths, and Ci= number of cities

  3. *bump no rts fans :(

  4. ill try it but im not that much of an rts person

  5. nvm, i cant download it to my macbook haha

  6. Used to play it a bunch man, great game! :hello: Pretty dope I get to meet the creator, I played this along with the WoW risk (not as good).

The WC3 custom game I played more than anything was Footmen Frenzy. I seriously played this game off and on for like 10 years.

Got into Heroes of Newerth after I got sick of the balance issues in Footmen 5.4 (which never gets updated).

Currently enjoy a good HoN game once and a while but I will definitely get Dota 2 by Valve when it is finished. Right now I just scarcely play Minecraft while I wait for Diablo 3 to drop.

    MAY 15!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:devious:

  7. Nice. I'm still a wc3 fan.. I know.. lame right? I just enjoy the rts genre more, its like a mental battle vs shooting games etc. Btw, I considered taking a footmen frenzy and making it ranked like I did next gen, still could pretty easily. Sc2 risk is kinda lame and I'm considering making a Sc2 version similar to wc3, but it would take a lot of free time I don't really have anymore.

  8. i used to play this alot 2 or so years ago :) was awesome.

  9. The game mod apk is extremely good, it gives me a lot of new experiences, with many interesting and interesting features, when playing, it is extremely attractive.
