Hi I have a new grow that I just started on Jan.22 and was wondering which one is more important the right humidity or the right temperature I'm using a 1000 watt HPS in a 5x5 grow tent I can keep the temperature at 75 but the tradeoff is the humidity goes down to about 25% or I can keep humidity at about 70% but the temperature goes up to about 83 so which one would you choose.
as long as you are keeping temps at 75 you should be fine with a humidity that low, i run at 75-83 with rh 20% or lower and my plants are beautiful
You need to consider both and find the correct Vapour Pressure Deficit. Vapour Pressure Deficit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -Loki
Thanks everybody for your response, @PG10 I have a humidifier the thing is I have no exhaust whatsoever in a sealed grow tent so what happens is if I keep it sealed the RH goes up but if I open the tent the temperature goes down as well as the RH and as of right now I don't have the money to buy the necessary equipment to precisely control the atmosphere inside the grow tent so this is what I'm left with.
You have no exhaust at all? You can't grow without air exchange dude. If you don't care about smell and are willing to just open the tent all the time, you can get away with it, but if you will have to get rid of odor and seal the tent, it won't work without an active exhaust. It's working fine now, but once those things get big it will get way out of control.
You can't just pick and choose what is important when both those factors are extremely important. High humidity = mold High temperature = stress with chance of hermaphrodite (true term - intersexual) You are effectively smothering the plants with a pillow with no fresh air ( co2). Low humidity causes your plants to take up more water. When a plant transpires (sweats) the next water molecule behind the first one gets dragged up (like a vending machine). The dryer it is the more water and therefore nutrient your plant goes through, running the risk of nutrient burn and underwatering. At a certain point the plant stomata (breathing holes on the underside of the leaf) close to keep it from losing anymore water. This effectively stunts the plants growth and development. If you do not correct this problem asap you are in for a rude awakening. Your move
