alright listen to it, I am a die hard chili peppers fan.. so I mean its hard for me to admit they intentionally ripped Tom Petty off, just want to hear your opinions on it.

IMO, the song is very very very simular. maybe even too silmular. but don't listen to everything this radiobroadcast tells you.

In this radiobroadcast, they sped up the song "Last Dance With Mary Jane" to make it the same tempo as Dani California.

Also keep this in mind, you can't steal a chord progression.

But the vocal melody is exactly alike, which sort of pisses me off. It's hard to believe the chili peppers went through with this song and not a single person compared it to Tom Pettys 1993 hit.

    Here's my opinion.

The RHCP are a very famous modern rock band, they've been around writting hit singles for over a decade. I really don't believe they need to steal someone else's work to write a song, not to mention Dani California isn't even one of the better songs on "Stadium Arcadium". But I do believe they unintentionally ripped this song off. They started with the chord progression, and it probably sounded familiar to Anthony Keitis, He started singing in the vocal melody that Tom Petty did, because it sounded familiar to him. They probably didn't even realize the song already existed.

Just my 2 cents, tell me what you think.
