Opened up my 600w ballast and found burnt connections to the ignitor should I rewire or retire? Ballast still works but I'm worried about safety.

  2. The wires themselves look fine. Maybe just swap out the connectors.

  3. If u really know what your doin then go for it, if not then chuck it.. not worth the risk of burning the house down... even maybe take it somewhere an have it rewired if u cant?

  4. A solder connection is best. Put shrink tubing on first and slide to the side, do your soldering, put shrink tube in place and apply heat.

  5. I'D just toss it and buy something new considering how much money I made with it XD

  6. You could replace those very easily with new twist terminals.

just cut the old ones off, strip the wires and twist together with the new connector.

as for fire, that is why you have a metal enclosure around it.

  7. Thank you all. I think I rewire new connecters and test for a few days and keep an eye on it. Cheers
