  2. Sorry. This new/and old AOL mail sucks. It won't let me copy and paste or upload to my files on GC. If you want to read it, you will have to download it. I use anti-virus so it should be safe. Just thought that my fellow Hoosiers would be interested to know how a possibly future governor thinks about cannabis.

    Dear Ms. Alford,

Thank you for contacting my office regarding marijuana policy. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

Historically, rather than the federal government, state governments have been the main drivers to establish marijuana policy in their home states. 39 states and the District of Columbia have legalized medicinal marijuana, while 21 states and the District of Columbia have legalized it for recreational use. A 2017 study by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine found that, while cannabinoid products can be an effective treatment for various medical conditions, smoking marijuana can cause respiratory disease and may have other severe health risks similar to smoking tobacco.

More federal government, however, is not the answer to every problem. The decision to allow for the use of cannabis for recreational use and medicinal use should be left to the states. As legislators, however, we must remain mindful of the potential benefits and adverse health risks relating to general marijuana use. I appreciate your thoughts and will take them into account should this topic be brought to the Senate floor.

Thank you for contacting me. It is an honor to serve as your U.S. Senator from Indiana. Please keep in touch with me on issues of concern to you. You can also follow me on Twitter or Facebook for real-time updates on my activities in the U.S. Senate. If I ever may be of service, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Sincerely,

    Mike Braun
    U.S. Senator

  4. maybe reply back with this article - All smoke is not Created Equal - Robert Melamede
also Dr Donald Tashkin has NIH / GOV funded research that proves that inhaling cannabis plant phytocannabinoids increase pulmonary lung function !!! even helps people who smoke tobacco to breath better ! phytocannabinoids are bronchodilators and Vasodiltors
Edit - and the main thing , cannabis can be ingested with no smoke at all ... politicians are setting it up like that is the only way to benefit from the plant or something ... a long long way to go before the Psychotic brain washing is gone and people are left wondering WTF just happen !! Wha Happen !

  5. That is what his opinion on medical marijuana is. Sen. Todd Young said that he would rather have the Federal Gov legalize it first. Excuses. I think they file these bills to make it look like they are doing something about it. Then the bills sit in a committee for a few years until the next assembly/congress takes over and the bill dies because it never did get voted on.

  6. Meanwhile, 22 vets a day would rather take their life than endure their hell.

Jeff Sessions replied to an email about cannabis I sent him when he was still in the Senate. It basically nicely said I needed to educate myself on the dangers of cannabis. Really?!?

Marijuana and the Lung Some Known Knowns. 2023 https://journal.chestnet.org/article/S0012-3692(22)03993-9/fulltext

“We agree that marijuana “should” cause considerable lung disease, but the opposite has been shown. Given the collected data, it is now reasonable to draw the following conclusions: (1) Marijuana in the short term is a bronchodilator. (2) The cumulative effects of long-term marijuana use (medical marijuana in particular) are minor. (3) Smoking marijuana does not cause COPD.”

“Our pooled results showed no significant association between the intensity, duration, or cumulative consumption of cannabis smoke and the risk of lung cancer”.

  9. As always Granny has the goods on pertinent information. Sadly, what I interpret from the statement posted by the OP is that the candidate is waffling - making a proclamation that essentially exposes his lack of commitment to the issue. "Leave the decision to the States (but don't ask me what I think)" which leaves open a loophole for the Federal Government to overturn whatever gains are made.

  11. Gotta sit and read these. I have had this annoying cough that gets worse when I smoke weed especially a bong rip but I always heard weed is an expectorant for your lungs. But nothing really harmful. However I quit nicotine coming up 6 months ago now. Cold turkey, just stopped on June 4th and haven't gone back. I mostly vaped but towards the end of my use of nicotine I would buy packs of Marlboro or American Spirit or something like that. Anyway I'm glad to see these links. I will never stop smoking weed no matter what lmao!

  12. I guess I'm going to have to get me a printer and a Ryder truck so I can print out all of the info I can find on the benefits of cannabis take it to the Indiana General Assembly and drop it in their offices. If they want "more studies," like Sen. Vaneta Becker of my district replied when I called her office, I'll make damn sure she gets her studies. Even if I have to deliver it myself. My daughter was nice enough to let me know that I have to have a credit card to rent a car. I have since applied for and received two.

  13. you can lead a horse to water etc./... in other words , irregardless what research you bring if its not harm only smoke type research it gets Completely ignored and not used for reference ... only the harms associated with use are referenced in the research in mainstream ( all plants are bad and Lipids mostly - Bad) type circles

  14. So true! I know all about those horses, that is for sure. I'm from Kentucky anyway. :love-m3j: And yes I have a Cornbread Mafia t-shirt. The Good Ole Boys from Kentucky were just trying to make a living for their families during the recession of the 1970s into the 1980s. And I don't blame them one bit. Damn....SQURRIEL!!

  15. I would ask him, put him on the spot, make him justify why cannabis is Sched I while fentanyl which everyone knows is extremely dangerous is not. Fentanyl is a scheduled drug rated as less dangerous than cannabis by the federal government's drug scheduling critieria. That is inappropriate and you should ask him to work on getting that changed. Yes, your state can legislate to legalize cannabis, but that does nothing to affect its federal status. Federally it is still "the worst of the worst" of drugs which any sensible person knows is untrue.
