Resin from bowl stealing THC

    I noticed when my bowl was new it ripped like a champ. Now it's old with resin and I still cleaned it out so its not clogged but it still has a resin coat. Is it just in my head but my bowl is getting harder to pull with that resin and it feels like my high just isnt as good as it could be if it wasnt lined with resin. Anyone else notice that maybe a resin layer can stop some of the thc from exiting the pipe?

    If anything, having resin lined on your pipe makes you higher. It may in turn catch some of the smoke but if the resin is in the bowl, most likely it'll heat up enough and go down the stem and into your lungs thus increasing your high.

    i always thought kinda the opposite. after i cleaned my bowl i always felt like i got highest a few times after once it got that good resin coat, but it never tasted anywhere near as good as a clean pipe:yummy:

    Don't worry yourself - there will ALWAYS be some THC caught on the way on the glass, no matter how clean. You're just thinking too much into it :p

    And don't boil it.. wtf^^^^^
    if anything, just wash it with iso 91% daily

    if its a typical glass spoon, id boil it, good as pre-owned.

    I'm sure it has to do with air flow and combustion.

    Resin will restrict air flow (little bit) causing you to get less combustion?

    I don't boil my spoon anymore since my friend broke his doing that. It's not the intense heat that gets it, it's how fast it's forced to heat up and how fast it's forced to cool off when you're done. So I guess if you were careful about it and slowly hiked up the temperature, and then equally slowly backed it off afterwards it'd be okay... Still too risky for me though :bolt:
    I just wash it with 91% isopropyl alcohol and salt to get the gunk, and use some q-tips to get the stubborn stuff.

    I don't bowl my pipes, I steam them and they cause the resin to get very loose and easier to work with.

    OP sounds like you're bowl is clogged with resin and it's causing you to not get good hits. Clean that shit out, save it for a rainy day.

    Sure it will, everyone knows glass is water-soluble...no but really, it's another one of those preference things, nobody's right or wrong because a clean bowl will catch less resin, but in turn the resin in the bowl will hear up a bit, so it's mostly a mental thing. Just my opinion.

    If that we're true, the heat from your lighter should use up the THC left on the bowl. You could always scrape the bowl and smoke that mixture. Lol

    I wondered this too. I outta clean my pipe it's CAKED with resin.

    No I was sarcastically agreeing with whoever said "water softens the glass," glass is solid as can be nothing that brittle and hard can be weakened by a liquid
