Res Trails

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by thejtotheb, Nov 22, 2006.

  1. Alright well I've never registered here but I was over on another site before it got shut down. I live in Canada, smoke beautiful buds every day and theres rarely chronic around that wont leave a pile of crystals if u snap a nug in half.

    ANYWAYS,

Bong technology (lol) is getting pretty advanced these days, with diffusers, ash catchers, the hurricanes, etc.

I'm hitting a a decent set up, 5mm glass w/ ice catcher hooked up to Ash Catcher w/ diffuser coming out of a $120 custom blown bowl.

Still results in res-trails.. no it isn't the best set up but it should deal with this problem.. and doesn't =P

    To the point...

I've hit a lot of bongs and after you've become seasoned and start taking bonghits that are ~1/2 gram you'll run into a problem with the smoke being too thick, it will leave black lines in the bong by your lips, turn your lips black, etc

    Things ive noticed:

Ice cold water seems to make the tar cooler, and it seems to stick sooner. If I put ice cubes in my B, occasionally by the ice-catcher there will be trails of resin. This is a no brainer, but are the ice-cubes helping the res-trails or hurting?

Ash catchers don't neccessarily seem to help, while the hit is smoother ill still get trails.

Diffusers seem to *increase* res trails.

Lifting the bowl out a little as you fill the chamber can help tremendously, mixing fresh air into the chamber with the smoke.

Ultimately I think it comes down to thickness of the draw (which could depend on how its packed, and dryness), mixture of air once its in the bong, and finally temperature of the smoke.

Anyone have any comments / experience?

  2. Yeah I have noticed resin trails in my perculator too. What I suggest trying out is filling your bong up normally with water but instead of filling your ashcatcher with water, fill it with rice. All the little crevices in the rice filter out the smoke better than water. I wouldnt suggest filling rice in the bong though its just a hassle. Tell me how it works out if you do decide to try it :D

  3. Never thought of using rice... lol imagine eating it after with res all over it.

  4. Sounds like it could work wonders... I presume you mean rice WITHOUT water, as the two of them could get rather messy.

Furthurmore, I don't buy minute rice, just the chinese stuff so its REALLY sticky.

  5. I have my bong filled up with rice right now, and let me tell you, it works wonders.

  6. I'm not sure if that's a good idea then. Last thing I want is for someone to screw up the interior of their bong because of something I said :p

  7. Man i seen that exact same bong in a place called doobies smoke shop, it's heavy duty glass if i can remember, it's good shit.

  8. Try using warm water instead of cold water, also get a bigger bong with 2 percolators in it - that should help.
