  1. call me the resurrector....

super old thread... (i was looking for a grow you are doing toasty.. i always like your advice..)

yup... i agree with the no rep. i have been here for a short while and i see alot of people with alot of rep saying some really stupid stuff.... giving violent or illegal advise sometimes clearly joking and sometimes not so clearly... either way, some stoner little kid (over 18 of course) may not know the difference. there are people like toasty for example... if there was no rep involved, i would read toasty's posts and listen to what he has to say because he has built a real reputation on the forum... but, what it does is help though is the noobs starting out with questions and not knowing who to listen to..... you guys are smart... not trying to say there is a better way just adding 2 cents despite the inflation for the last five years... i probably should have to add at least 12 cents by now. and besides it has been fine for another 5 years right? by the way toasty... looks like you sure got that rep...lol

  2. The way i see it is people try to give helpful advice and be nice so they get rep, i know that's like rep mooching but without rep they wouldn't have anything to lose :confused_2: i mean all that would discourage them is getting banned, so i think the rep function should stay and if someone doesn't like it....

    so what

  3. you are another one skunky... people see you enough saying good stuff that you don't need those green bars... and i wasn't necessarily saying no rep... i was just saying that like all other systems it is flawed... your rep follows you with or without the bars. there are just a lot of people that i think don't get negative rep because they are seasoned.. therefore there are quite a few people with high rep saying inappropriate stuff. when they don't get bothered for it, it opens a door...

good to see you skunky :smoke:

  4. If there rule breaking report them, there's no exceptions to members with high rep believe me nothing changes when you have full bars..there's not even exceptions to mods or VIP's or paid members, allot of mods get banned so do paid members and VIP's

It's wrong to take someones advice just because of there rep and if it was gone it would be because of post count, or the date they joined IMO.

Best thing is to just try to give accurate advice and correct those who are giving misleading/illegal advice :confused_2:

Good to see you too man ;)

Oh and the reason i think rep is a good idea is because people try extra hard to earn it, Via being nice/helpful, anything that encourages that behavior cant be that bad.

Just don't pay any attention to it. Rep has its positives and its negatives. You shouldn't take one users posts more seriously over anothers just because they have more green bars. Its not that a person doesn't get negative rep just because they are seasoned, its more that they don't get negative rep because not alot of people have the power to do that, and even if they did get negative rep you have no way of checking that.
And you don't need to call another member out like that.

  6. i didn't call anybody out... i don't think... i'll just drop it so not to seem like i am being an ass... sure wasn't trying to be. i just ended up here while looking to see if there was a grow journal for toasty... i like his posts and wanted to see his grow and saw this thread under threads he started... thought it would be great to bring back a thread from when toasty was humbly walking among the blades... wasn't trying to do any calling out or offending for that matter... i absolutely adore grass city. don't change anything. and please don't take anything i say seriously. thanks for the support skunky.

  7. No one thinks your being an ass or trying to offend anyone :p :)

  8. The person has to have at least one light green bar.

    <----- Like such

  9. I think the problem with that is, then people who have repped themselves will give advise to noobs, and the noobs will take it as fact because the person has a big rep bar.

The thing I like about the rep bars is, in general, they tell me who to trust and who I should to do a little more reading before taking their advise. There are some people on GC that sound really smart, but in reality they don't know what the hell they're talking about. The rep helps point out who's who. At the end of the day getting more rep isn't really a big deal, but it's a nice reward system to have in place. And being 100% honest here, I probably am a little more careful what I say knowing I am pretty much getting judged on it. So I'm sure it helps keep people in line a little bit. They have a high status to strive for and have to behave to get it, lol.

  10. Not always the case, I have just got some green + rep from a member with no light green bars. I think you can rep if you have been here a while and are very close to getting a light green bar :smoke:

  11. Well, I think this question was answered quite a few years ago. :p

In regards to why it was bumped... I don't really see a question in there, but if people are being disrespectful, then report them. Doesn't matter how much rep you have, the rules apply to everyone.
