removing males

  1. hey guys, I just ripped my first male yesterday which was very sad but anyways I just snapped the very bottom of the stem and threw the snapped plant into some brush nearby. question: can the pollen still somehow be released and fertilize my females or will it be good now that it's dead?

  2. Some people throw trash bags over before just to be careful... as long as none of the seeds have popped you should be ok, I woulda trashed it tho to be sure

  3. if you caught it before the pollen sacks opened you sould be fine, what i tend to do is mist the male plant first then cover it with a trash bag like ladies said then remove just to be extra carefull :)

Everyones knows that males aren't trustworthy:rolleyes:

I take plant & pot outside at approximately two weeks into flower, cut it down & toss into the garbage can. On grow no. 5 I've yeat to have a problem.
But with my active air intake (6 inch fan) I wonder if I'm just rolling the dice that some pollen will float into the air intake & impregnate my babies?
Thanks for bringing that up. Haven't given it much thought.
    Cheers:D

edit: fans about 30 ft. away from the garbage can. Hmmm.
    Or am I overthinking this?

  5. Yes ur over thinking. If u wet him down first then went into a bag. And that going into a garbage can with a lid? Would be more then attiquite. The water kills the pollen so ur good just with water.

  6. how close are these to releasing pollen??

  7. Not even close. They kinda hang down little then open up. It looks like a flower ( not bud but an actual flower) then just fall off.

  8. Those could go fast from there. Why wait? KILL

  9. ok cause that's the stage I ripped the male out. I'm afraid I'll have to rip 2 more today out of my 18 plants, then I'll have all women :D

  10. 3 out of 18 plants is a great ratio IME
