Remedies for a plant that's too tall?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by TheNoob, Dec 31, 2018.

  1. Northern Skunk by peak seeds vegged them for about a month and a half with no training although the other plant topped itself very young and has 2 main stocks but the other plant grew about 8 inches taller and is now just like 3 inches away from the light is there anything I can do to fix this and still keep the main cola I'm about 3 weeks into flower.

  2. 50 pound or larger fishing line so it won't cut into stem and tie top down to level canopy. One time u will snap it. Then u tape it and see how resilient a plant it is. We call that snapping necks. We do it on purpose part of training

  3. I had a similar issue a whiles back and I ended up bending the wires that hold the lights and hanging them that way instead of using the full length of the wires. Was able to raise the light about 2-3 more inches that way.

  4. Just bend them slightly from the top. No need to do anything dramatic. They should be just about done stretching. Plus giving them a slight lean with give more light to the buds growing along the stem

  5. I got desperate and used a rope to pull the plant downwards slightly pulled it down more each day and this is what I came up with. I almost took the wires off too and hung the light right from the tent bar but it only covers about 2 feet and the plant was like 4 foot 4.

  7. Next time try super cropping just before flipping light schedule, helps slow down the stretch

  8. I hang mine from the bar with just enough space to keep a layer of air between the panel and tent... only used my yoyo for like a week or so

  9. Next time you grow you can maximize you're horizontal grow space by tieing the plants down to create an even and flat canopy. It helps if you start early in the veg. If done properly you can make the plants grow in any direction you want.

  10. Definately and I'm going to try topping a few times I just wanted bigger plants this time. This is my second grow and my first was a nightmare during the summer with thrips killing them and fungus gnats when i started flower they were only like 1' 8" and yellowed out but produced some of the best bud i ever smoked in my life from some bag seed i kept from about 5 years ago has the craziest taste of fruity grape and dankest kush taste then the aroma is to die for I ended up breeding it with a male to try and preserve it got about 40 seeds and starting those with the current 2 bigger plants in the post hopefully they have the taste and smell the mother had! Here's some pics of the first ones.

  11. Only got about 2 oz off those 2 so this time my goal was to get more but the one plants size got out of control. Hoping for 4 oz this time fingers crossed!

  12. Definitely need to let em go longer if you want to get your weight up

  13. Congrats on your first grow tho!

  14. Ya for sure that first run I was using epsom salts brown sugar until I got molasses broken down egg shells a part 2 flower nutrient really cheap one and miracle grow till i transplanted into a coco mix before flower while dealing with hordes of fungus gnats or aphids or something I'd literally touch the soil move it slightly then there all crawling up my arms flying around sprayed yhe soil with super high ph safers everyday was a rough grow . This time around I'm using a huge nutrient solution from Hollands secret have to add like 9 bottles of different stuff to each feed but havent had a single problem this grow besides the height thing and I grew 4 but had to throw out two huge male plants was a shame. I noticed since I bent this plant all that lower growth rised up. Going to start training in veg now that second plant in the picture topped itself at a young age and has two massive main stems but it's slightly shorter 8 inches or something. I vegged these for about about a month and 15 days before flipping
