Regulating the humidity of your stash?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Mangudai, Nov 4, 2010.

  1. Im not talking a very high amount but ive decided to keep my stash in mason jars now and was wondering if I could benefit by regulating the temperature of the bud which its not in use? If so, what would be the optimal percentage?

    Peace.

  2. For both potency and flavor preservation, I jar mine, crate them, and keep the crates in a dark wine cellar where the temperature stays around 50 to 54 degrees. If I'm truly 'storing' them, I try not to disturb a jar at all, not even to move it, until I intend on depleting its entire contents.
Even then, once most strains hit 3 months from harvest, taste-wise I begin to favor 'fresher' bud, as far as flavor but not potency goes. But some strains do age better (and worse) than others.

It's really up to your personal preference, for medium to long term storage, just make sure the buds aren't too damp when you jar them.. they should be cured when you're considering ignoring them for long term storage, and the temp should stay below 65 but above 40. Freezing bud is an option as well, for even longer-term storage.

If you choose to freeze weed, just wrap and seal each portion well, in a few 'oven bags'.
Oven bags, the kind used for cooking meat and veggies in the oven, are less porous and more durable than most other storage bags at that price because they're made to withstand high heat, because of this, they won't transfer weed-smell through your freezer which may be a joy for you, but a shock to your visiting mother, and they likewise won't allow nasty freezer smells to penetrate into your bud. The fact they're odor-tight, means they're doing the job they need to in order to preserve the quality, as well. Plus, you won't risk shattering jars with temperature change or movement.

Storage methods, can be just as unique as the person who intends on using the bud. Many people have many different preferences and methods, and their desired effects vary.
