regular sunlight???

  1. Hello,

I am very new to growing but I have been able to start and grow about 5 plants without using any of these advanced growing setups and stuff. All I did was pop the seeds into some ProMix, and then I just let them sit in my mom's indoor greenhouse. They get natural sunlight all day and I water them lightly once a day. So far, no problems.:) I plan to move them outside once they are a bit bigger.

I was just wondering, what is the difference between using natural sunlight, and using some fancy florescent lighting setup? How much does it affect the plant?

  2. Natural sunlight is the best source of light you can get- however, it doesn't necessarily give you the best lighting schedule to fit a certain period of time. Using natural sunlight will allot you to use the plant's grow/harvest schedule, meaning you won't be harvesting anything until September - November because of the sunlight hours and light cycle. And with an outdoor grow using sunlight, your plants will get huge unless you do some semi-fancy training. Good luck with everything! :smoking:

  3. ahh ok thank you very much for the info

i will be leaving for college at the end of the summer and I'm not planning on taking the plants with me so I would like to have the buds by before then

so im guessing i could speed up the process by giving them light 24/7 instead of just relying on daylight...?

  4. let them grow for a month at 18/6 light or 24/0 and then once you switch to 12/12 they will begin to show sex and flower you could speed it up by changing to 12/12 that will trigger

  5. Because of the way the seasons affect the lighting schedule, you'll need to remove them from the greenhouse/natural sunlight anywhere from 1-6 hours early (depending on where you're located) if you plan on harvesting before school. Just move it to your closet or somewhere else that is light proof.

  6. when should I start doing that? after 1 month of regular 12/12 natural sunlight?

  7. Whenever you want. Just make sure it doesn't get more than 12 hours of sunlight when you want to start flowering it. If you're leaving in early Sept. for school, I wouldn't suggest moving it any later than late May.

  8. alright thanks a bunch for the information :)
