Ohio State researchers develop regenerative medicine breakthrough

TL;DR A new technique to turn ordinary skin cells into "any cell type of interest" including specialized organs. Extremely fast, non-invasive, and immune from your immune system rejecting it (no immunosuppressants required). Demonstrated with extremely high success rates (98%) in mice and pigs. They're aiming to start clinical trials in humans next year.

As long as we don't blow ourselves up first, things are about to get much more interesting.

  3. Very intriguing stuff!! This will depend upon the extent of success of the clinical trials. Keeping in mind the fairness in prices and how will this new technique acts on human bodies. If it turns out true, this will surely be a revolutionary breakthrough. Regenerating lost tissues will immensely help the medical industry.
