Ok gents, before i start talking about my plans and asking for aproval i need to know.. this might sound like a dumb question but ive found an 85w cfl which screws right into regular light fixtures. This is ideal for me as i dont want any bulky lights. My plan is to put this bulb into a regular desk lamp. My question is do you think a regular lamp will take it? as i understand quite a few desktop lamps dont like cfl's because of the high wattage. Ive also found the same but 30w. and i was thinking about having my plant underneath/near my desk with the 85w bulb in a clip on desk lamp shining down from above and another two 30w bulbs in regular standing desk lamps shining on the plant from the sides What do you all think?
A regular lamp will take CFL bulbs. CFL's are low wattage bulbs compared to their incandescent counterparts. Tell me more about your 85 watt light. Does it have a built in ballast (Big bottom to it) or does it need a ballast? The largest CFL's I've seen locally that have a ballast are 42 watts.
Unfortunatly ive just found out the 85 watt clf is only 2700k. No it doesnt have a ballast. Its a bulb.. http://www.bltdirect.co.uk/item617.htm Surely this doesnt need a ballast does it Thanks for answering btw
Just get a budget 400/600 watt HPS. It will set you back 100euro/130 Dollars. Your plants need lumen to grow up big and strong. Its the single most important piece of kit.
You definatly think HPS would better for home growth than what im looking at? Can anyone second this at all??
Thing is i cant really hang my lights. Im moving into a student house so i cant go drilling into anything. Im looking to use regular desk lamps to grow my own personals
