  2. Have you tried plugging the PS3 into the TV with the HDMI cable, but running an optical audio line from the TV (out) to the home theater (in)?

    Then plug whatever into the TV, and leave the HT set on the optical audio input. Just change the input device on the TV when you want to play games / watch a movie / whatever.

    Also, some units can use a coax line (looks like RCA) for digital audio. My blu-ray player is like this. Have the hdmi line running to the TV, digital audio running from the blu-ray player to the home theater. Works like a charm.

  3. Sound and video travel through the same cord with HDMI so I don't get how you don't have sound? Maybe I just don't know what i'm talking about..

  4. Hmm, well there is a "Digital Audio Out (Coaxial)" on the back of the tv, I thought perhaps since it was digital maybe it would work, but like you said, it looks very similar to RCA, which confused me. In addition the only ports for the home theater box are one RCA and one HDMI and one USB.

    Honestly after reading that portion of the instructions in the picture I had an urge to return the damn thing lol. Would be kind of a PITA though with the speakers running all over my living room.

    By the way, I really appreciate the advice. Just upgraded from a 15 year old CRT TV to a brand new LCD TV, so I'm very new to the HDMI system.

  5. In my appplication I need my TV to grab audio and video from one HDMI cord (coming from the PS3), then send the video to the screen, and the audio to a different HDMI cord (which leads to the home theater system).

    I can get them both to work individually but can't get them to cooperate.
    Funnily enough the TV has sync'd with the home theater system and stays snyc'd, even when the TV source is on the PS3 instead of the HT system. So when I change the volume on the TV while playing the PS3, the HT box changes accordingly, and vice-versa. It just doesn't want to play the sound.

    Right now I have it working on a 2-Channel system by going into the PS3 sound settings and turning multi-output to "on". Then running the HDMI cord from the PS3 to the TV, and the RCA cord from the PS3 to the HT system.

    Man am I burnt out on abbreviations, lol.

    If there's no digital audio in on the HT system, then it won't work that way, unfortunately.

    Umm, is there a generic "video out" on the HT system? If there is, try rigging everything directly to the HT, then have the video out to the TV. Then you'd switch inputs using the HT and leave the TV alone on the single input coming from the HT.

    PS3/DVD/BluRay -> audio/video in -> HT -> single video out -> TV

    Or, if you want, take a pic of the connections on the back of the TV and on the back of the HT then post them here. HQ enough to read the labels and stuff.
