Recycling old Soil

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by OmniscientOnus, Aug 13, 2007.

  1. Ok, I know it's possible to use your soil over and over again, but I don't know if you have to do anything to it in between grows. I know when farmers replant in the same field year after year they will rotate crops, and do many other things that keeps the nutrients in the soil to their liking.

However, since I want soil without any ferts or nutes, wouldn't the soil technically get better and better with each plant I used as the ferts in it would go lower and lower? Or, do the ferts I feed my plant stay in the soil making it practically the same as when I bought it?

I was thinking that when I'm done with this grow I can flush my soil very thoroughly and then I'd have fresh, unferted soil to grow in. Is that going to be good enough though?

Or, am I wrong altogether and soil really shouldn't be used for more than one grow when you're growing indoors?

I'm not looking to save any money as soil is relatively cheap. What I'm looking for is a soil that I know from the get go doesn't have any ferts or nutes in it.

    Any thoughts?

  2. its to hard to flush everything out of soil, plus u got all the roots to deal with. i do recycle my dirt, but i flush as good as possible, then throw it in the compost pile until its all broken down roots & all. its eaiser just to buy new soil, so u know what your working with.
