Recreational marijuana use vs medical

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by SecretStoner, Mar 21, 2010.

  1. hey, I'll share a bit about my thoughts on medical/recreational use. Also, what are your thoughts on this? At what point are people using a prescribed Amt of weed as opposed to recreational usage? How much is too much? When is it considered overdoing it, and just recreational?

I personally believe that recreational marijuana use helped me find out that I NEED medical marijuana. I never truely realized that I was depressed or suffered from anxiety. I thought that I was just pretty normal, and everyone thought the same thing. My friends offered me some weed, and I was curious so I tried it. That was probably a year or so ago. I now am realizing mre and more that this is a medicine, and honestly makes me feel better. Not as far as addiction, but as far as getting rid of negative thoughts, and truely allowing me to fully enjoy life. Other than paranoia of getting caught (I live in a non medical state), I feel like I really, truely have a far better perspective and outlook on life. I feel more creative, less anxious I'm every form, and much less depressed. It's a shame that people look down upon medical marijuana, but won't think twice about any form of chemically produced antibiotics and other pain relieving drugs. I find the fact that you can OD on them as opposed to marijuana proof enough that it should be legal in all states, not selected ones.

So, here's a post for proof that recreational marijuana usage can be a very positive thing for the correct people. And here's to hoping my state gets medical, as well as the rest of the states.

SS (sorry if this was posted in the wrong forum)

  2. I use it recreationally mostly, but I suffer from periods of insomnia sometimes and it helps greatly with that. Why shouldn't you be able to enjoy your medicine?

  3. I think it's because according to society, at least, medicine should not be enjoyed, it is simply a tool, and you aren't supposed to enjoy using tools...

  4. Yeah dude, In eighth grade and before I figured everyone always contemplated what people thought of them 24/7 and shit. Freshman year, hit my first joint. Now i do it on the daily ahah

  5. It's not the amount their using, it's how and why they're using it. If you're using it for a medical reason (and are being truthfully honest with yourself) than that's that. If you are smoking it to get high then it's recreational.

It isn't legal anywhere. It's not as if the federal government has said it's acceptable in certain states, the states have taken charge and declared it legal under their own laws. I also don't agree with your viewpoint about it being legal because it's nearly impossible to OD on. It should be legalized because of the enormous amount of health benefits and other uses it has. Personally I don't think the government should have any say in what substances we choose to ingest (yes, including hard drugs) but as long as things are the way they are the legality should not be chosen based solely on the OD factor.

    What state are you in?

  6. ALL CANNABIS USE IS MEDICAL USE, WHETHER YOU REALIZE IT OR NOT!

Look, diabetes and it's effects on the eyes and nerves are a big medical problem. Many people are diabetic and do not realize it. Their vision is slowly being stolen by diabetic retinopathy. It doesn't hurt- you just slowly go blind. Cannabis stops the cause of this loss of vision. And there is diabetic neuropathy- numbness, pain or tingling in the hands and feet. It can lead to ulcers that won't heal, and eventually, amputation. Cannabis prevents the nerve damage and eases the pain. Some studies suggest that cannabidiol may even prevent some cases of diabetes.

So there are 3 ways cannabis helps in diabetes, a disease you very well may have and not know it.

MS? The latest says that cannabis slows the progress of this devastating disease. I once read an anecdotal story about a heavy toker who quit for a job. Shortly after he quit, he collapsed in the shower. Diagnosis- MS. Were his MS symptoms being held off by cannabis? Possible- odd coincidence, anyway, if true.

There are studies that show cannabinoids slow the formation of arterial plaque.

There are studies that show THC prevents the formation of amyloid plaque, the physical indication of Alzheimer's, better than prescription drugs used for that purpose!

And of course the Tashkin study that showed "cannabis only" users had a LOWER RATE of CANCER than NONSMOKERS! And all those studies that show cannabis slows breast, prostate, lung and colon cancers! (What would a big dose do?)

Heart disease, MS, cancer, and diabetes- what are the odds of you dodging the bullet on all four?

ALL CANNABIS USE IS MEDICAL USE, WHETHER YOU REALIZE IT OR NOT!

  7. It depends on the amount of marijuana you are using. If you want to treat a particular condition, medical marijuana is best for you as a specialised doctor will guide you and help you choose your perfect strain. Self-medication may not be that effective.

  8. I used to smoke just for fun now I mainly get medicated to help with the pain I'm in/anxiety I still do smoke for fun mainly on weekends when I have a few beers with friends.

  9. Here in Colorado the doctor can recommend that marijuana "may help your condition"....which allows you to get a medical card.....but doctors here DO NOT "prescribe" medical marijuana...nor do the recommend or know shit about "stains". All they truly want is your $$$ and for you to leave and take care of your own needs....all of which are outside the scope of their medical license.

  10. I live in the UK and I've heard its like that in america lol you can literally tell a doctor "weed is the only thing that stops my migraines/stops pain" and you'll get given a mmj card

  11. Here in Colorado most folks go to a "pot doctor" who is willing...and makes most of their income...reviewing medical records and .recommending that weed "may" help their condition.

Most personal docs/family docs/docs with huge practices/patient bases will NOT write a recommendation for MMJ for fear of losing their license.

Now that we have recreational allowances and the State has cranked back how many plants can be grown on the medical side, the only reasons (IMO) for having a med card here are to avoid the high taxation on purchases on the recreational side of the equation...or to be able to buy stronger edibles. (in the rec shops you can only buy 10 mg candies/etc. whereas on the medical side you can buy edibles with huge amounts of THC in each candy).

Either way...it's the same weed/concentrates being sold in both shops.

  12. self medication is preventive medicine... cannabs is preventive medicine too, not just spot medicine to stick on that hurt spot etc...

  13. @ Storm Crow:
My friends father (known each other since pre school) was diagnosed with als lou garigs. He was on multiple pills pain killers you name it. He was going into seizures all the time he tried a cbd oil about a year ago, since then he has put all his weight back on seizures have almost stopped. Muscle control has almost returned to normal. If cannabis is so bad for us tell me why these symptoms have gone i to remission. My aunt has had m.s since she was 19 years old. Drugs for nerves drugs for pain. She had a stint inserted in her brain even. Started using cbd edibles symptoms are not as sever. My wife has shrinking of the spinal canal. Degenerative disk disorder. She was in constant pain. (she smoked mj prior) then the doc gave her a script for mmj. She started using the medical stuff to better help the pain and inflamation. She hasnt been complaining of her back issues as much. Myself just recently april 9/2017 motorcycle crash shattered my knee. Had a new knee cap put in screws plates pind. Multiple surgeries. I was given very strong oxy. Messed me right up. My wife suggested i micro dose and see if it starts getting better. Im not saying I'm 100% but i havnt had a pain pill since june 2017. Just saying. Mmj is not legal because the feds cant control the cultivation of it. Just read and read and read. There is so many things mj can do. Its not a miracle drug. Its not a problem solver. But it is a natural herb that's been around for 1000's of years. Amd it will be here for 1000's more because its relief for multiple symptoms.

The medical marijuana programs are just like any other government administrated program, there is always an element of waste built in. In the end all I know is that it's good to be able to find quality herb without waiting for unreliable connections to come through at $10/gm including 37% sales tax. That's pretty reasonable, and allegedly some of the millions will be going to fund schools. I don't mind paying a third of my pot budget for a good cause.

I used to have a medical card in CO, but after 2012, I just said fuck making an appointment, renewing your license just to be able to smoke slightly cheaper weed,

  15. A funny thing happened when I started smoking pot at the age of 13. I noticed my cramps went away. I think it's all medical. It makes you laugh and relax and if that isn't healthy then nothing is.

  16. I agree with this whole heartedly. It really pisses me off that the government thinks it's their place to tell us what substances we're allowed to consume. It should be left up to the individual.

Personally, I think all drugs should be legal. It's your life. Take what you want.

Cannabis should definitely be legal nationwide. It's one of the most beneficial plants on earth.

Medicinal or recreational? Both should be legal nationwide. If it helps you with an ailment or disease or just makes you feel good, what's wrong with that? I can't understand why the government is so opposed to people enjoying themselves.

I've never heard it explained that way, but it makes sense. I just don't understand why so many people have such a problem with people using substances to make them feel better. What's so wrong about that?

  17. having patients feeling good and happy after treatment is big plus up yo in the doctor sector... Just get ready to adjust the drug when effects wear off and tolerance develops... treatment or curative or both ? !
