So I would like to record myself playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent after smoking. I know that there are lots of people that enjoy playing games high, and that there are lots of people who upload videos and videos of themselves playing games on youtube. But I can't find any videos of people recording themselves playing a game while high. If there are any, maybe I wasn't searching the right things but in any case, it seems like there are none to me. I'm going start this baby off but first I have some questions I need answered. First, what program is the easiest to use? I want to record video and audio (both my voice and sounds in-game) but I'm not sure how to do that best. Not sure if this would matter, but I have a Microsoft headset that has a mic attached, and it plugs in as a usb. Might mess with some programs. The program that I was planning on using was Camtasia Studio (I think I have 7), but I'm not sure if that records my voice and in-game sounds at the same time, and unfortunately it makes my computer lag when I use it. Even when it's the only program running. Older versions worked fine with multiple windows open, but the one we have now isn't so good. Should I install an older version or get a different program that most people use? Would the videos get removed eventually? I know there are lots of videos of people smoking out there but maybe they'll be removed soon too. Just wondering is all. I'm still going to do this regardless. I need to make a separate account for this because too many family and friends know the current one (Since this is going public, if even 1 realizes who I am, I consider that 1 too many). Any witty suggestions for an account name? Are you wanting to record you face or just the game footage? FRAPS is probably your best bet at recording game footage. Windows Sound Recorder for microphone. Windows Movie Maker for syncing the footage to the sound. Your videos shouldn't be taken down, so you're all clear. Can't wait!
Wow nice quick reply. Yeah I'm only interested in recording the game and my voice. No need for my face. So I'm going to be giving those three a download and testing them out soon. For anybody who peeks in on this thread, just lettin you guys know what originally started this idea was wanting to watch someone else play a game with a good campaign, but at my own pace. Like stopping for bathroom breaks and munchies. I'm sure there are others like me who get tired of always chilling with other people, or playing online shooters. The videos are meant to be like you're chillin with someone who's also pretty high. And both enjoying a few scares hahah. I'm going to be making a few videos first before uploading them. And they're going to be a while because I'm taking long breaks from smoking in between recordings. I wanna be pretty freakin high every time I record. For your entertainment.

Yeah well, I was high the other night lookin for the type of videos I was talkin about. Buuuuuut I didn't find any and I stumbled on a "Let's Play Amnesia" video. Never played it before, but I've developed this fascination lately with survival horror type games. Like FEAR and Dead Space. This one seemed like like it'd be pretty sick high hahah. And yeah I clicked reply and not quick reply so I said I'd download all 3 cuz I only remembered that you listed 3 things. Took me to another page. Gonna have to start getting used to using the 2 to get some quality vids up hahah. Had such high hopes while searching on youtube and there're probably gonna be others like me out there. Don't wanna screw this up for them.
I thought that FRAPS recorded gaming footage and sound along with mic audio? So you wouldn't need to use all the different programs? I could be wrong, though. I really love the idea of a high "let's play" series, and I think it's something we(avid Gamers Heartbeat posters/lurkers) should at least consider doing, like a big community thing where anyone who wants to do it could upload it to a specific GC YouTube channel. I dunno, I think I'm just too high. You should check out the Nightmare House games if you haven't already. Scary as hell and very fun.

And the game. hahah You know, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought of this, and maybe there's a reason nobody else has tried it. Hopefully it won't turn out too bad to dampen anybody's hopes in making something like this. I just wanna get this idea out there so others who would potentially be better at this will make some videos that I can enjoy. I DON'T ACTUALLY WANNA PLAY THIS!! I KNOW I'M GONNA SHIT MY PANTS!! I just want to get high and watch someone else... T_T If this turns out well, and there's enough reason for me to keep going rather than pass the torch (get tons of people askin or TONS of views), then ima def give the Nightmare House games a shot. not to be a downer, but there are a lot of videos of people playing amnesia and screaming into a microphone. I shoot a lot of videos for the internet, but im kind of confused about what your goal with these video is. Do you want to make quality content cause if you do youre going to need to drop some money into this. if youre just trying to make silly videos then you just need to sort out your frame rate issues when capturing because no one wants to look at a choppy video.
FRAPS does come with sound BUT, you can only have one sound option. Either he records the game sound, or his microphone.
Ah ok, so JDahms my goal is to get this idea out there. All those videos have aspects that aren't so enjoyable for me when I'm high. When I'm high I don't talk incessantly to an imaginary crowd, and I definitely don't just quietly play the game. I always say funny, stupid crap and definitely screw around on the game. That's why I love playing games while I'm high so much. Everything's so much fun. I know there are lots of people that make tons of those videos. I'm not making Amnesia videos just because I want to make another scream into the mike video. I chose this game because it doesn't seem to be too demanding of a game. And my goal is actually to maybe "inspire" other stoners who would be able to make better videos than me. If the ideas not out there yet, how're they going to stumble on it and make something I can sit back and enjoy, you know? And you're not being a downer or anything dude, I really do appreciate the input. Really straightforward and to the point. Helped me prioritize what I need to be doing for this project.
