  1. Alright so lately I have been listening to a lot of instrumental stuff when I ve been blazed. Some examples are El Ten Eleven, explosions in the sky and, Godspeed you Black Emperor.

    Recommend me some epic instrumental songs and bands

  2. The originals :hello: For me I like Pink Floyd and Zeppelin I'm sure you heard them before but I had to say it anyways

  3. not an instrumental band....but a band who does alot of instrumental shit.....

  8. there's a lot of great post-rock bands out there
    Maserati is great, but unfortunately their awesome drummer, Gerhardt Fuchs, died last year. Their last album recorded before he died is supposed to be released later this year.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKSRvqnrajQ]YouTube - Maserati - Monoliths[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYDoxdOCh_U&feature=related]YouTube - Maserati @ The Earl 12/16 ( vid 2)[/ame]

    The band Jerry Fuchs was in before Maserati was The Turing Machine.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdEHBKDkBes&feature=related]YouTube - "Don't Mind if I Don't" turing machine[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt4EQHa70_k]YouTube - turing machine "bleach it black"[/ame]

    I don't know the Mercury Program too well, but they did used to tour with Maserati and I think theyre also from the Atlanta area.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxoZ8U11hF4]YouTube - The Mercury Program[/ame]

    Mogwai is pretty sick too. They stuff sometimes has weird time signatures that I love.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdpIvA2Ox8w&feature=related]YouTube - Mogwai - I'm Jim Morrison I'm Dead[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC_3alnTE9g]YouTube - Mogwai - "Friend of the Night"[/ame]

    Mono is Japanese post rock band
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B00qU5uc58]YouTube - Mono - Moonlight[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89zzHCfZ_zs]YouTube - MONO - Follow The Map[/ame]

    Tortoise is probably one of the post-rock originators. more of a jazz influence.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sps7YxLeYM]YouTube - Tortoise - Live at Werchter [full set][/ame]

    and then there's Man Or Astroman?, they're a scifi punk instrumental surf rock band from the early '90s and just reunited and went on tour...
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ps32wFxDY94]YouTube - Man or Astroman? "Spferic Waves"[/ame]

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pvFK8Q8GEU&feature=related]YouTube - Man or Astro-Man? Return to Earth![/ame]

    and if you're interested in travelling back in time, there's the early 70s krautrock gods, Neu!
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbAWBElA6dA]YouTube - NEU! - Hallogallo[/ame]

    or the psychedelic freeform live improvised jams of Ya Ho Wha 13
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19Knfvn-g-E]YouTube - Father Yod & Yahowha 13 ~ I'm Gonna Take You Home ~ Ya Ho Wa 13 ~[/ame]

    and to go down the road of psychedelic rock, I always recommend Acid Mothers Temple, a Japanese psychedelic noise rock band.

  9. This looks like the start of a great thread. Unfortunately, I have to go to work, but you need to get Buckethead's albums, and check out Mathias IA Eklundh amongst many more to come. Ron Bumblefoot Thal is another great artist, but sometimes vocalizes.

    Liquid Tension Experiment is a must have. Must.

    More to come, some videos later as well.

    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WneDU-K3Sww]YouTube - 65daysofstatic - Retreat! Retreat![/ame]

    Hans Zimmer - pretty famous score producer/writer/whatever. Download the Inception score, if you've watched the movie this shit is pure bliss!
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_QEBeTa37M]YouTube - Inception - 03. Dream Is Collapsing[/ame]

    If you like the inception score, you'll more than likely love the Transformers (2007) one too :p
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5_xh_lWIKk]YouTube - Transformers the Score - Decepticons (Steve Jablonsky)[/ame]

    Shlohmo - i duno, you might like it.. it's not bad :)
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLNSUBik49c]YouTube - SHLOHMO - Hot Boxing the Cockpit[/ame]

    Also try Vitamin String Quartet, they do alot of covers of famous bands (usually metal/rock). I suggest youtubing them and finding a band you like that they cover :p

  14. heres a couple good instrumental songs
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlxrC2beCFw]YouTube - The Winner Is Devotchka[/ame]

  15. as mentioned before, mogwai. try to download the travel is dangerous lp.

    other good ones:
    god is an astronaut
    russian circles
    explosions in the sky
    ratatat (kind of monotonous, but good every now and then)

    lately what i've been listening to is what i normally wouldn't listen to. i guess passion pit and la roux are my guilty pleasure bands.

    i like listening to curren$y too, he's getting hyped as the next big thing in hip hop. listen to pilot talk.
