  1. Alright Im looking to upgrade my current set of headphones, and when I ask for a "good" set I mean something better then my skull candy ear buds I have been using. Im looking for something comfortable, over the ear. Any advnatages and disadvantages to closed vs opened? Id like to score a good deal with the season were in now online or in store, which ever gives me best bang for buck. Ive heard a lot of good about sennhesier as well as sony, so throw em at me guys. Lets try to keep it under $45.

  2. You'll never get anything "high quality" for that price, but that's just my audiophile opinion.

My Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros are a godsend, especially for hearing the small intricaties of music.
Beats by Dre are amazing if you love bass (every form, including in ears). People say they're gimmicky but in reality they're some of the best headphones anyone can buy.

Open back and closed back is something you have to test out to really understand.
One thing that's definitely noticeable though is that open back you can hear what's going on around you while closed back isolates you from the world outside.

Hope this helps a wee bit in your findings.

  4. Sennheiser is a good bet.

  5. I think it's worth spending around $100.00 to get some Sennheisers or AKG's. Go look at American Musical Supply's site for a nice selection at a wide price range. Happy hunting!

i have these and really, i put them on and turned the amazing bass all the way up and i just stood there and smiled for at least a minute. whenever other people try them they just laugh because they are overwhelmed with the amazingness of these headphones.

  7. Seeing as how you'd like to keep the price under 45, I would recommended the entry level headphones in this picture:

You can get em around $30-40 and they are actually really durable. I had them for around 6 months and sold them to a friend and bought the in ear versions. I can remember that they were extremely comfortable and had great bass(for the price range). They were also the clearest sounding headphones I've used in the sub $90 price range. The Sony in-ears my friend had lasted a little over 2 years so they are a pretty good investment.

  8. I have a pair of Sony Proffessional MDR-7506. They were like 100 bucks but absolutely worth it. they're comfy, block outside noise very well, and have amazing sound quality.

  9. Sennheiser HD 595's!

    love em
