Recieved a response back from a letter I sent out

  1. Here she is

    Dear Andy,

Until Federal law changes, this subject will not be heard in Georgia. You should send your concerns and comments to your two State Senators: Isakson and Chambliss and your Congressman: Tom Price. You can go to www.congress.org and input your zip code and address for a direct link. Those links will take you to their web page where you can contact them direct with your request and concerns.

Yes, we know what other states have done in defiance of Federal Laws.

Thank you for your input. Please continue to contact me on matters of state government.

    Regards,

    Calvin Hill, State Representative
Serving the Citizens of the 21st Legislative District

    Atlanta, GA 30334

My two favorite points made were
    1. This will not be heard in Ga......very open to public opinion.
    2. What other states have done in "defiance" of federal laws???
Poor choice of words. Why do I feel like I was part of some middle school argument with a short sighted teenager who ran out of ideas and things to say? Defiance....hmmmm.
Tell me what youy think, peace.

  2. I will be "sending my concerns and comments" to my state senators. Hopefully they have more of a willingness to listen, hopefully.

Let "Calvin Hill, State Representative" know that you will be voting for his opponent next election...real leaders do not pass the buck with lame excuses like that.

  4. Typical politician, but at least he shot you straight that he had no plans of doing anything about legalization. Best thing you can do now is vote for someone else when elections come around, and (hopefully) send Mr. Hill a "I told you so" email when your state finally does legalize it. Just hope that's in both you and your state's representative's lifetime.

  5. Man that does seem kind of harsh. I mean when your job is to "listen to the people," saying " report to me on state issues," is like saying bitch I aint got nothing to do with that. Georgia and Alabama suck, we'll be the last for sure.

  6. that's pretty shit, she shouldn't just pass on responsibility like that.

  7. Yeah, it's unpatriotic to defy the federal government LOL

  8. Remember what happened the last time GA defied the National Government?

  9. This is the response I got back after emailing my rep about Virginia's HB 1134, which would decriminalize possession:

Thank you for taking the time to write us in regards to upcoming legislation. We greatly appreciate your input. Please know that your opinions are very important to us.

As the session continues, we will update you with the progress of the bill.

    Respectfully,
    John M. O'Bannon

Seems like an automatically generated response, I sincerely doubt they "appreciate my input."

  10. Sounds like another politician not doing their jobs and not giving a shit.

    Pretty typical :confused_2:

  11. What a sorry excuse for a politician, but living in Georgia for 22 years I've come to realize most of our politicians suck. They don't care about the people and what they want.

And while we're on the subject of ignorant government workers, have GA residents out there noticed that marijuana seems to be the top priority to Georgia law enforcement (maybe excluding ATL police from what I've heard). Georgia sucks when it comes to weed. If states begin to legalize it, Georiga will definitely be one of the last.

  12. qftmft

  13. Like Ga. has no history of opposing Federal policy.

  14. The "It conflicts with federal law" cop out is getting old. Not to mention for federal law to change the states need to show them what the people want.

  15. I'd reply back to him telling him he needs to take a look back at Georgia's history and ask him if he wants to be remembered as a politician who didn't follow a line of Georgian's who opposed the federal government. Civil war anyone? Georgia was one of the last states admitted back to the Union as I recall....
