recent dispensary experience

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by tuchaka, Jan 30, 2011.

  1. went to dispensary recently not one of my usual ones i went to because they had a strain i was looking for anyway, the budtender there literally had so much green stuff (plant matter and trichomes i would guess) stuck to his fingers there were green like a little kid that was eating Cheetos's and licking his fingers (you get the idea). When he handed me a bud to smell he grabbed it right in the middle not at the stem like i would have etc.

When i ended up buying my 8th he handed all the buds by hand obviously not with over-sized tweezers and scissors like every other place i had been to. Anyway my medical conditions are in no way life threatening but i could not help thinking what if i was a cancer patient or something. So does this strike anyone else as unprofessional or am i over reacting ?? any thoughts ?

  2. a lil over-reacting what does over handling of a plant have to do with anything. it still burns and it still gets you high

  3. I would have also been a little upset. In my opinion it's pretty unprofessional and it's well documented that just handling buds removes a lot of THC which is what the patients need. In my opinion OP your perfectly right to be a little upset by the budtenders actions.

  4. Probably scrapes that off his fingers for his after work bake. I would be pissed.

  5. Personally I would have refused to buy the meds. I expect the same treatment of my meds at the dispensary that I get from my local pharmacy. If I saw the Pharmacist handle my meds with their hands I would ask for my prescription back and go elsewhere.

If MMJ is supposed to be a med then it should be treated as so, otherwise if the dispensary gets raided and shut down for that behavior then they will start raiding more dispensaries.

  6. okay just wanted to check and see what others thought, ya i was not exaggerating when i say this dudes fingers were literally coated with green.

  7. Yeah that's unprofessional in my opinion.

you guys realize its likely hand trimmed by an army of cheap labor? thats what he coulda been doing between customers, some people wear gloves but try wearing a pair of latex gloves all day long and see how your hands feel. Sounds like your bud got touched likely by hands covered with trim waste, if it upsets you to see that in person then you'd be sick if you saw how its harvested/cured.

If you were buying edibles I completely understand, but then again thats why I dont buy edibles is because there so shady.. if your buying something that gets burnt who cares who's touched it? Unprofessional, I suppose.. would I care? not the least. Never washed my hands to load a bowl, no matter how dirty they were, doubt you have either.

  9. ^^^

ya i was totally thinking the dude was probably trimming. if you have ever trimmes you know how sticky that can get! lol.

and even though he touched your buds and what not, i hate to tell you, but before that bud got into the nice container you bought it from, chances are it had been touched a lot, through the harvest process

  10. ya at the risk of looking like i am reversing myself i did wonder what it was that got that much green on him, and it had occurred to me it was something other than just dispensing MJ to customers , but at the same time it's literally the only place i been to where they handled the herb with bare hands when they sold it to you. So ya that's why i posted here

  11. I was thinking along these lines....

I am a fan of regulation ..... I think everything should be clean and professional from start to finish , Medical or not...

But now, If you think that him handling buds, with sticky fingers was bad... think about this and what was said...

How was it grown? Was it even flushed? Pesticides ? Mold , Contaminants , etc

How was it trimmed? probably on a machine , or hastily by hand? Im sure it was handled way rougher during processing, than it was when you saw it....

I do agree that it is more professional when things are clean , and handled professionally in every way.. As a business thats how it should be , its not like doing a back alley street deal...

  12. Pretty sure you handle currency that is dirtier then your "meds"

If you're grossed out by finger hash touching your buds then why didnt you say anything to the budtender?

Sure it's unprofessional, but really? He was probably helping you out by getting the next batch of dank to dry out and cure......for YOU to smoke on.

  13. The dude probably ment nothing bad by it and im sure as a fellow toker it brings him much joy to deliver the herb to you, However as a "medical facility" they need to show some professional courtesy and cleanliness as well as professional presentation is definitely a courteous bonus.

Just toke on that lovely herb and be happy you got some fineee grown :smoke: and Next time go to your usual Dispensary

Absolutely. You should tell them when they're fucking up.

Its nothing about being dirty really. Its about the fact that marijuana is super fragile, trichome heads fall off at the slightest touch.

You really have to make an effort to not touch buds if you want them to look good and remain potent.

The smart dispensaries serve bud with chopsticks, works like a charm. And of course, if you ever do have to grab a bud with your fingers, you always grab it at the stem, so that you don't destroy trichomes.

It's basic cannabis handling etiquette. If its too complicated, don't be a budtender please.

  15. THis is unprofessional....think about how much of a big deal it would be for a pharmacist to handle yourpills without gloves. same thing. Also, trichomes break off when youtouch your herb.
