Really, this has gone on long enough, marijuana is not a health risk, it is not a gate way "drug", and it is not addictive. The government is to stubborn and "proud" to legalize it. It's time to get out those voter registration cards, and get a new generation in the house. Lets please end this ridiculous prohibition and become proud of who we are. -eL antoni0
It's addictive because you need more to get high. -DEAs reason why its addictive. This war wont be ending any time soon
Well DEA is completely wrong. While i'm home for the summer, I tend to take a break from smoking 1) because alone it's not as exciting, marijuana is a social drug that leads to excellent conversations, and 2) I have no stress like I do when i'm in school studying advanced classes like organic chem, and biochem. On average I go 5 months without smoking, not because im forced too or any thing like that, but because I want too. Yet according to the DEA i'm a addicted possible felon... Honestly common, i'm just a biomedical student with no criminal past and i'm someone that will not even touch cigarettes and doesn't even enjoy drink alcohol. CLEARLY the DEA is wrong.
Addiction is a psychological thing. Marijuana CAN be addicting to some people. Just like some people are addicted to TV, or video games, or World of Warcraft, or fattening foods. Shit check out the show "strange addictions" -- you will see people addicted to everything from eating tissue paper to smelling their own farts. Anything can be addictive to a certain individual, that doesn't mean it should be illegal though.
yep, just like every pharmaceutical drug there is pretty much plus thats only if you use it every day or close to it
Merck Manual - Marijuana (Cannabis) (excerpt - 2008) Marijuana (Cannabis): Drug Use and Dependence: Merck Manual Professional "Marijuana is a euphoriant that can cause sedation or dysphoria in some users. Overdose does not occur. Psychologic dependence can develop with chronic use, but very little physical dependence is clinically apparent. Withdrawal is uncomfortable but requires only supportive treatment." "Withdrawal: Cessation after 2 to 3 wk of frequent, heavy use can cause a mild withdrawal syndrome, which typically begins about 12 h after the last use. Symptoms consist of insomnia, irritability, depression, nausea, and anorexia; symptoms peak at 2 to 3 days and last up to 7 days." "Treatment Treatment is usually unnecessary; for patients experiencing significant discomfort, treatment is supportive. Management of abuse typically consists of behavioral therapy in an outpatient drug treatment program." Now if you want to get cannabis legal, the best thing you can do is to learn the facts about cannabis so you can be a good spokesperson for legalization. An easy way to start is to click that first link in my sig and just read! Cannabis is good for a LOT more than "just" getting high! EDUCATE YOURSELF! Granny
There's more to it than you think. It's not just them being stubborn. Put yourself in the shoes of the CEO of some textile or pharmaceutical company. You read in the news that marijuana is finally legal. Immediately you shit your pants because you realize how much money you will and most likely already have lost. You're not profiting off of your nausea medication or your anti-depressants or your pain relievers. Your college ruled 80 stack of loose leaf paper? No need to produce it anymore because now there's hemp paper. A big deal breaker is profit loss from the already way too rich industries disgustingly profiting off of the sick and the poor. It's not so much about marijuana itself, as much as how much it will hurt those who hold power through money.
