Rats

  1. Sorry for the dramatic title...

I want to prevent rats from eating my seedlings.

I have to germinate and then transfer to plant seedlings at my site.

I see that there is commercial rat poison 18lb buckets for about $100, which is within budget.

I hope to spread it several days around the grow area before planting seedlings.

    Any tips from the pros?

  2. Your gunna kill everything in a 25 foot radius lol. It may be better to just set a couple repeater rat poison boxes if you have the budget, they are much cheaper and peoples dogs wont be turning up dead from warfarin poisioning.

  3. Haha lol thanks for the response. I guess I was hoping there would be no domestic animals in the area I'm growing. Too far from civilization lol. Perhaps I can make some DIY rat boxes? And I assume they can smell it and would be more attracted to that than my seedlings?

  4. yeah just enclose the bait in a 2'X2' box with a hole about the size of an apple, they should go right in and eat some of the bait. It only takes a little bit to kill them but most likely you wont see any dead ones because the poison takes a little bit to work.
