Ratio of tap to RO?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by Private Stalk, Jan 25, 2019.

  1. So there seems to be a general consensus that using RO + tap water is better than just 100% of one or the other...

So what is your ratio / ppm?

Please add some details about your tap water. Is it hard? High ppm? Lime? Calcium? pH?

How often do you gotta clean hard stone shit off your shower head even lol.

I shoot for about 50ppm water. Tap is 170ppm and like 8.5pH.

I make ‘prescription water’ to 100ppm if needed but you know, each strain has their own preferences.

    What about yall?

  2. Mine is soft the more east ya go those in Holland suffer

for the UK is seroiusly mixed

those in the 'mericas suffer the worst of the chalky stuff

imo: always check ur water at least 1x time per month

more so after some good rain

and I prefer to mix my Ro with the tap(if Necess)

    good luck

  3. My RO is 12 PPM's. And I feed em' what they need to optimum growth.

  4. I use 100% tap water.

  5. I use 100% RO water. That gets me effectively 0 ppm. Then I know what my water contains because I added every ppm.

  6. Dam 170ppm and ph 8.5 is pretty harsh. If it were me I would just go straight RO.

I’ve worked with straight tap 270ppm and 7ph and 550ppm 7.5ph the higher the ppm the more of a pain in the ass it was to work with. The high ph of your water worries me. I think you will have less problems using straight RO.

  7. I’m not having problems. Things look good. And I actually prefer the buffer of the tap’s up vs the pH up buffer by gh.

I actually has more trouble with straight RO.

Just curious of anyone else mixes tap water with RO.

  8. Ahh my bad. But glad you got it figured out.
