I mean, you're just putting forth a rockist perspective. Saying your music is right and rap is wrong is pretty ignorant. I will agree that almost all of today's rap, that you hear on the radio at least, is extremely disappointing. But you can't just say it's all stupid, and people who play guitars are the cool guys.

Everyday big label rap isn't an art IMO, but groups like The X-Ecutioners where they have 2 world champion DJ's (Rob Swift and Grand Masta Roc Raida R.I.P.) who both write the lyrics and produce all their own music is. Just because it is rap doesn't mean it isn't music or isn't an art, it's the people who are just in it for the money and "I'm so gangsta but not really" lifestyle that ruin the name and genre. Thank you dude, I also hate it when people say rap is just talking about guns & violence and how much "bling" they have, etc etc, you're obviously listening to the wrong type of "rap" if your hearing all of this stuff. I actually like hearing about guns & stuff because I think it's cool, but if you don't then try listening to some real hiphop artists that just talk about life and stuff about what happens to them. The stuff is actually pretty cool and if you have an iPod and your listening to a good hiphop song AND your high? it feels go good to just lay down and close your eyes and really listen to the music and just feel the beat. Maybe listen to some biggie or Tupac, both of them talk about violence but my fav. rapper Tupac will just express some true shit on the tracks, talking about his life and such may remind you of how you were raised or anything and you can really feel the good vibes coming from his music, and he was very poetic.
