Random High Rant

  1. I hate getting treated like a degenerate just for smoking weed. For the past three years I've been a student full time and working two jobs. I cut out my social life and tried to excel in school and work and didn't put any time on my leisure. I started smoking weed in April around 4/20 but really got into it during the summer. I went on vacation to several countries with the money I saved up and decided to switch jobs when I came back. Meaning I'd quit my jobs and go on vacation then start another one when I return. I returned from my vacation but the job position said they didn't need me anymore. So I've been spending the rest of my summer after my vacation by relaxing, video games, and weed while waiting for school to begin and hearing back from jobs. My mother treats me like a damn degenerate just because I'm enjoying my summer like any other kid. This is the first time I got to relax and enjoy myself in a long time. Why can't people just let me enjoy it? When the semester starts I'll be back on my work and school grind, I am passionate about learning and making money so school and work isn't a problem. Weed has helped me with my depression and made be become a kinder, happier person. Someone who takes the time to notice details. I love nature and looking at lakes and going on hikes. I love reading now and made it a goal to read more books this year. I feel inspired about life from weed but my mother misunderstands and thinks I'm being a bum from weed.

than you spend the money on going on a vacation still paying nothing?

  4. sorry not trying to mean but lets reword your statement only bill you are paying is your car payment and your car insurance? is that correct? do you buy your own food? do you pay for your phone? internet? electric bill?

  5. I do buy my own food if I do go out. Also no I don't pay my phone internet or electric? I have no reason to if I still live in my parents place. Can I ask your ethnicity? I do understand Americans or just many white people in general move out right at 18 but we Asians don't. Why should you move out at 18? you can just stay at home with your mom and and dad and live cheaply. Perhaps in the white people world that is awkward, but in the asian community, it is just normal and accepted.

  6. are you living in asia? or usa? you are blessed having such nice parents ,we don't choose to move out we are kicked out (all my money i was making than went right to my mom, wasn't til she came into my room drunk and broke my nose did i move out)

so lets break it down food 200 a month phone 50, internet 50,electric 50 that's 350 a month not including rent add another 500 min for rent so your saving 850 a month and spent on a vacation? didn't give your parents a dime? it's not the weed i think your mom is hinting she like something in return.

  7. Yeah but when some people move to the USA, they still keep Asian cultures in their upbringing. I am blessed for my parents and allowing them to live here but I can still get annoyed that I'm treated like a degenerate for smoking weed and the bad stigma around cannabis in general. I'm sorry for what happened with you and your mother but if my mother wanted me to pay rent I think if she did she would ask. This might be a surprise for you but some people have different relationships with their parents due to different cultures and upbringings.

  8. You can't really complain living for free, or it's time to move out, then you don't have to worry about any of it. I don't think it's fair to call it a white or American thing, I know plenty of families that don't agree with the kick en out at 18. It's an old way of thinking really.

  9. Hmm maybe it's not a white/American thing. All my friends are Asian Americans or FOB Asians and I don't think anybody has been kicked out at 18 so I assumed it was a non Asian thing. Also I think I can still be grateful but complain sometimes. Like I'm grateful for my parents and what they do but be able to at least complain on the inside. It's not like I'm showing them signs of ungratefulness just keeping it in to myself and ranting online. Eh.

  12. as long as you pay for the things that you use exclusively, like your car (which you already do), phone, and a bit towards electric and water, and a share of the rent, than i dont see the issue. you're paying your way.

  13. Much like how family relationships are socially defined and vary between cultures, so are individuals opinions of what constitutes the deviant behavior that defines who is and is not a degenerate. Evidently your mom has a problem with your behavior based on what she defines as socially and culturally unacceptable because your behavior is violating what she considers to be appropriate social norms. Its no more right for you to define what she considers acceptable than it is for other posters to define appropriate familial relationships for you.

Long story short, if you don't like it then put on your big boy pants and get out of your moms house. Otherwise, respect her opinion.

  14. You don't pay your parents anything for living there? I'd be pissed at you too lol, I live with my parents and I don't work atm because of being In pain 90% of the time I still give them money from the benefits I get... You have a job and don't give your parents shit bruh you're fucked if your parents ever kick you out bills gonna rain down on you like a ton of bricks..

  15. OP: You must learn the fine art of deceiving your mother.

No one tells their mother everything. Obviously.
