rain leaves brown, dry, and crunchy

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by ripcordres, Oct 3, 2012.

  1. Soil: PRO-MIX HP Mycorrhizae
    Pot size: 7 gallons
Water: well water. Room temp and ph'd to 6.8-7.0. Water every other day about 3/4 gallon each
    Nutes: general hydroponics grow/micro/bloom/calmag/kool bloom.floralicous.plus....
Lights: 2 400w HPS with plants about.15-20.away 12/12. Had a timer malfunction and lights were on continuous for more than a week
    Temps: 65-75F
    Humidity: 35-40% RH
I recently started foliar spraying the leaves thinking they needed extra water.

  2. I will take another photo soon without the hps lights on.

  3. ...I belive you've overdone it with the fertilizers. When you add salts into your medium, you need to go light and flush often....the salts build up quickly in a soilless mix and the pH drops crazy.
...an underfertilized plant will outperform an overfertilized plant, let that be your new motto if your going to use salts in your fake dirt.
...I once grew my plants using a similar method, but I would give 1/4 strenth soution everyother watering....however, when I grow in pots now I grow organically, with a composted soil mix, Fox Farms Ocean Forest, Roots Organics, exc......it's much easier than the pH chase your destine for using hydroponic fertilizers in a soilless mix, imo.

  4. Damn, well I will take your advice. As far as the fox farms soil goes... What should i add to it.. 25% perlite, vermiculite? I have a few others that are in the seedling stage still...would like to grow these all organic!

    Any suggestion on organic ferts?

    Thanks.

...brother it's as easy as pie!
    ...water only!
...start your seeds/clones in the promix only (promix is perfect at this stage), I like to use those 1 inch x 1 inch pots they sell in seedling starter kits at lowes/home depot/walmart exc... once you have established roots transplant into a 16 ounce party cup or a similar sized pot of Fox Farm Ocean Forest...in 3 weeks transplant into a 1 gallon pot...3 weeks later, transplant into a 2 gallon pot, exc......
...you can simply transplant every 3 weeks into a slightly larger pot all the way through the grow, and your bud will be of superior quality......water only all the way through the show ;)

...here's your rules: do NOT add any salts, chlorine, or perservatives to your soil. ...these will kill the microherd that makes FFOF a quality soil.

...view the thread linked "soil food web gardening" in my sig for a good organic read ;) ...happy growing bro.

  6. bro, thanks for the info. You are a wealth of kniwledge. It's obvious you know your stuff!
It sucks that I went overboard....but I'll just keep giving them water and hopefully will have some to smoke while I grow the newer ones. Although no one hates to fail, this is my first but certainly not last rodeo....I will get the hang of this.

So, no perlite is needed for the FFOF.

  7. ...no perlite is needed, there's perlite in the FFOF but I've seen novice growers add extra in fear of overwatering...it's on you really, I use the FFOF straight out of the bag.

...I will leave you with the famous words of Thomas Edison, "I have not failed 700 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 700 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work."

Transplanted into the ffof, given a week at 20/4 light cycle to adjust and headed to 12/12. Watered twice with well water ph'd to 6.8! Getting rid of all the leaves that are already dead! New Bud Growth is looking promising!

Plants seem to have recovered nicely from the nutrient overload. Been feeding only water ph'd to 6.0-6.8. Fed/Watered them 2wice. Going to maintain water for one more time then I will resume at a half of what is proposed for week 6 of flowering! I think that they are looking really good! Im excited to see the end of this one! OMG

Fiend, how are ya my friend. Sorry for the long delay, I've been traveling on a business trip for almost a month.

Here is a look see of my current FFOF grow.

Also, I did manage to save some of the stuff I was having issues with. Although 2-3 hermaphrodited on me while I was away. The end result was acceptable to me as the smoke is phenominal.

    Here is the take!

Soon I will be looking to make an organic mix and develop the teas to keep her going. Thanks trichome fiend for your help!

    Later bro.

  11. :hello:Starting to look very promising. :smoking: Here is a current photo. I would guess bout 1 - 1/2 weeks into flowering.
